Kara Hui Recalls Filming Bloody Scene for “Stained”
Kara Hui (惠英紅) and Tse Kwan Ho (謝君豪) join forces in Fox Networks Group Asia’s new mini drama, Stained <心冤>. This is the first time collaboration between the two Golden Horse winners and they were both excited at the opportunity. The drama has been receiving a lot of feedback due to the fact that most of the cases are based on real life crimes.
The most recent episode was based upon the 2013 murder of Glory Chau and Moon Siu and is considered the most gruesome episode so far. Kara remembers vividly the moment when she stepped onto set; it was very realistic due to the putrid smell. The crew had just filmed the scene where the criminal had dismembered the corpses of his parents and they had decided to use real pork meat and organs to emulate human remains. After two days of filming, everything had decayed leading to the horrible smell. “The entire room smelled putrid, my scene involved me using my hands to feel every piece of evidence. When I opened the box, the smell was so strong and acidic that I had trouble opening my eyes! The floor was sticky with ‘blood stains’ and there were cockroaches everywhere. I felt like I was at a real crime scene.”
Kara and Kwan Ho praised their three younger costars: Terence Chui (徐志勇), Ng Siu Hin (吳肇軒), and Hedwig Tam (談善言) for the energy and spirit that they brought to the team. Kwan Ho said, “In actual fact, these three are the main characters of the story; Kara and I are just supporting characters. The focus is on the case itself.”
