Katy Kung Has No Hard Feelings Towards Patrick Tang

Last November, Katy Kung (龔嘉欣) announced that she had broken up with her boyfriend of two years, Patrick Tang (鄧健泓). Despite the rumor that Patrick had been cheating on her with several women, including 2007 Miss Hong Kong, Kayi Cheung (張嘉兒), Katy seemed to have gotten over the breakup and wished Patrick all the best.

Katy and Patrick got to know each other after working together in 7 Days In Life <隔離七日情> in 2010. Perhaps due to their age difference, Katy revealed that they had problems right from the start. Eventually the pair mutually decided to end their love relationship and stay as friends instead.

When asked if Patrick’s dry career life has anything to do with their breakup, Katy said, “It has nothing to do with it. Sometimes an actor has little control over his career. No matter how much you want a role, if it’s not yours, it’s not yours. It’s more important that my other half is hardworking. Only when he puts in effort can he answer to himself and his loved ones.”

In November, there were rumors stating that Patrick had cheated on Katy with his Tiger Cubs <飛虎> co-star, Kayi. Though the two denied the allegations, they were spotted on a movie date soon after his breakup. Katy said matter-of-factly, “I don’t know if the rumors are true, but it’s normal for him to get on with his life. Honestly, if he finds someone he loves, I am happy for him.”

When news surfaced that Kayi was the third party who came between Katy and Patrick, good friend, Elaine Yiu (姚子羚) referenced Kayi as a “Pork Chop Miss Hong Kong”. To take her mind off her broken relationship, Elaine went on a vacation with Katy and posted photographs of Katy clad in a bikini. Despite having lost a considerable amount of weight after her break-up, netizens criticized Katy’s figure, saying her thighs were too thick and she had too much belly fat. This eventually caused her to lose a slimming advertisement endorsement deal.

Katy Gains Viewers’ Notice

Though Katy’s love life may not be going on as smoothly as she hopes, her career, on the other hand, is getting a boost. Despite the low ratings Beauty at War <金枝慾孽2> received due to its complicated storyline and slow pace, Katy’s portrayal of Muk Do Yee received much praise. In addition to the hot filming conditions in Hengdian, Kath felt stressed working with the veteran actors.

In the drama, Katy shared a few scenes with Ada Choi (蔡少芬) who played her stepmother. Katy expressed admiration for Ada’s professionalism and her perfect acting skills which resulted in no outtakes. Sheren Tang (鄧萃雯) may appear serious but Katy revealed she is actually very easygoing and loves to joke around on set. It is a known fact that Moses Chan (陳豪) loves his coffee very much. Katy jokingly revealed that Moses actually brought his coffee-making equipment to Hengdian and without fail, every night, he will fry his own coffee beans to make himself an aromatic cup of coffee.

Not Affected by “Flying Papers”

“Flying Paper” scripts may have posed a problem to other actors but it did not cause a big headache to Katy. When she was filming The Scoop <東張西望>, Katy constantly had to think on her feet as the program is shown live. With Amigo Chui’s (崔建邦) help, Katy learnt to memorize her lines quickly. She added, “Maybe everyone has a different definition of flying papers. Actually there are several scenes in every episode so I know what I had to do. But yes, the scripts were only given to us 2 to 3 days before!”

    1. agree love her the most in beauty! surprise that i like her the most there when there are veterans such as ada, sheren and christine, but katy was the one who shined and stood out! impressed by her breakhrough!

  3. I’m sorry but she is a thin as a stick. I don’t know what Hong Kong people want she has a good body figure already.

    1. Being ugly is main reason why HK ppl don’t like her.

      1. She actuallys not that ugly. I have seen uglier Hong Kong girls than her.

      2. I don’t think Katy Kung is pretty, but she looks exceptionally pretty in the above photo. She is too short, too thin, and has funny ears, but she seems to know how to act ………. a lot better than many new and young actresses. She is good in her dialogues, very clear and articulate. She did very well as Muk Do Yee in “Beauty at War”.

  4. If just looking at photos, I always mistake her with JJ Jia,
But JJ Jia is prettier, and have brighter face and smile.

  5. Love her responses about Patrick. She seems like a very sensible person. The things she revealed about Ada, Sheren, and Moses are also very interesting.

  6. never like her in series, but I am starting to think now because of her good portrayal of her not so nice character makes you dislike the character then the actress, heh I am starting to be a bit more fond of her. She looks prettier too.

  7. impressed by katy’s performance in beauty at war! her acting was really good what a huge breakthrough! hope tvb can promote because she’s young, pretty and CAN ACT!
