Louisa Mak Navigates Being a New Mom

Sharing good news of her pregnancy in November last year, multi-title Miss Hong Kong winner and former TVB actress Louisa Mak (麥明詩) had welcomed the arrival of her first child with pilot husband Keith Shing (盛勁為) earlier in March. Recently, she shared an update about how she had been coping with the milestone of parenthood!

Grateful to Keith for Being Her Hero

On May 2nd, the first-time mother shared on her socials that she had been so busy during the transitioning and caring for her newborn, that she had clean forgotten about Keith and her wedding anniversary!

Louisa wrote, “Life had changed in the past month in the most beautiful and craziest way. Due to post-natal aches, late night feeding and endless latching on, I was plunged into ‘survival modes, and did not even realize it was our first wedding anniversary,”

However, it turns out that husband Keith had not forgotten the occasion amid caring for their bundle of joy, and had been brewing a surprise for Louisa all along — piecing together a photo lightbox using their wedding photos!

It surprised me greatly, and gently reminded me that “we” were still important. The lucky thing was that hubby had been an amazing teammate most of the time (with room for improvement), and our parents had been the most supportive,”

Taking things a step at a time, Louisa shared that “every day is just a mini milestone”. While she was already starting to miss the newborn’s “blurry eyes and soft cries”, she highlighted that she was “just really thankful for every moment spent with this little life,”

Louisa’s Mother Shares Feelings

Louisa’s mother Silvia, a pediatric occupational therapist, also shared her perspective and personal milestone as she witnessedan “independent and confident” Louisa coming into her own as a mother.

As a pediatric occupational therapist dedicated to child development, I’ve spent my career helping parents understand and nurture their children, walking with them through the highs and lows of the journey. Over the years, I’ve come to deeply appreciate both the challenges and joys of parenting,”

“Today, a new chapter begins—Ming Shi has become a mother. My heart is filled with joy and emotion as I recall the moments when I watched her grow, from a tiny baby learning to crawl and taking her very first steps, to a young girl striving to learn and excel…As both a mother and now a grandmother, I will continue to support her, offering my experience and care as she embarks on her own parenting journey…wishing every family happiness and fulfillment, and may every new life bring joy and hope to the world!”
