Michelle Yeoh Returns to Filming Action Movies
After Michelle Yeoh (楊紫瓊) starred in two romantic comedies – Crazy Rich Asians and Last Christmas – consecutively, the Malaysia-born actress is finally returning to her roots. The 57-year-old, who began her film career as an action star, is participating in three large-scale action movies all at once. Michelle is making quite the action comeback with upcoming films Boss Level, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Gunpowder Milkshake.
Gunpowder Milkshake, in particular, is standing out with its all-female main cast. On top of Michelle, Avengers actress Karen Gillan, Lena Headey from Game of Thrones, and Angela Bassett make up the female ensemble.
The film follows three generations of female assassins trying to stop another killer’s assassination. Foreign media have described the film as a hybrid of Kill Bill and The Expendables.
In addition to the three action movies, Michelle has also signed on to appear in the next four Avatar sequels. To add to that, viewers will also be able to catch her in the Chinese period production, Nezha <大鬧東海>.
