Song Joong Ki in Talks to Star in “The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family”

Following the success of Netflix vigilante series VincenzoSong Joong Ki has been receiving more diverse casting offers, and is currently in talks to star in thriller drama, The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family.

Based on a popular webtoon of the same name, the story follows a man who was killed after being framed for embezzlement by a wealthy family despite serving them for many years. After his death, the man is reborn as the family’s youngest son and plans his revenge of taking over the family’s business.

Responding to the news, Song Joong Ki’s agency History D&C shared, “Song Joong Ki received the offer for starring in The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family. We are currently in discussion with [the production team].”

Rumor has it that Bae Suzy may be the leading actress, although no official announcements have been unveiled yet.

The drama had been in the works for several years ever since Korean network JTBC bought the production rights in 2018. Due to various complications and delays, the drama has finally moved forward with casting.

Jung Dae Yoon, who worked on She Was Pretty and W, will be directing. The script is helmed by screenwriter Kim Tae Hee, whose past works include A Beautiful Mind, Sungkyunkwan Scandal, and Designated Survivor: 60 Days.

The production team aims to finish filming The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family by summer of this year, with a premiere date in the second half of 2021.
