Song Joong-ki Shows His Fanboy Side

Announcing his re-marriage in January of 2023, Korean star Song Joong-ki made his first variety show appearance in over ten years on Please Take Care of My Refrigerator <拜託了冰箱>. The youthful looking star not only shared about his sweet interactions with his wife Katy, but also instantly transformed into a blushing fanboy and stammered when his idol, “Napoli Matfia”, chef Seongjun Kwon appeared on the show!

Song Joong-ki’s Passion for Italian Food

Asked by host Kim Seong-joo about how Katy and him address each other in private, Song Joong-ki revealed that they habitually call each other “여보(Yeobo)”, meaning darling or sweetheart, as his wife liked how the word sounded.

Sharing about their married life in Italy, he revealed that Katy’s influence also led him to develop a strong interest in Italian cuisine! The actor even became a blushing fanboy when chef Seongjun Kwon, winner of hit show Black and White Chef: Culinary Class Warfare appeared on set. The actor, who confessed his admiration – “I’d really want to meet him! The scenes of risotto stewing in the pot left a deep impression on me”, was so shy that he dared not look Seongjun Kwon in the eye, which evoked laughter from the audience.

When it was time to peek into Song Joong-ki’s fridge, the host asked if the ingredients in his refrigerator can all be used, to which the wife-pampering idol replied, “My wife says feel free to use anything in the fridge!” While the rare finds in the couple’s fridge amazed the participating chefs on the show, the delicious outcome of the risotto-themed challenge also left Song Joong-ki excitedly exclaiming “Mamma Mia!”

After tasting the chef’s prepared dish, another guest, actor Lee Hee-joon was discovered tearing up by Song Joong-ki. He explained himself. “I always spend only 15-20 minutes on my meals, i’d order immediately and finish it rightaway so I can look at my script, never once really enjoying the taste,” Finally allowing himself to savour the taste of food, made him so touched that he cried!
