Song Joong Ki’s Cameo in “Queen of Tears”

Joining the stellar cast of Netflix K-drama Queen of Tears is Hallyu star Song Joong Ki, who is confirmed to make a special appearance! Led by Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won, the modern twist on a prince-and-princess love story between a supermarket prince and a “Chaebol” department store empire heiress is also Kim Soo-hyun’s comeback to the romance genre.

While Song Joong Ki’s special appearance has been confirmed, no further details have been shared by the production crew. The star last collaborated with Kim Ji-won in Descendants of the Sun and the first season of Arthdal Chronicles; both have been managed by HighZium Studio since 2022.

Incidentally, Song Joong-ki and Kin Soo-hyun have also worked together on 2009 SBS special drama Will It Snow for Christmas?, before gaining international acclaim following their respective career success, adding another point of excitement for fans.

Making his Cannes red carpet debut last year for the low-budget thriller Hopeless, which he filmed without compensation, Song Joong Ki continues his busy filming schedule, headlining new drama My Youth – his first since becoming a father, following hit series Reborn Rich. His upcoming film My Name is Loh Kiwan, about a North Korean defector who struggles to gain refugee status in Belgium, is also premiering on March 1.

A sixteen-episode drama helmed by acclaimed screenwriter Park Ji Eun, Queen of Tears is set for a March 9 release on Netflix and will premiere on tvN’s Saturday-Sunday slot.
