Tavia Yeung Extols Otaru As Best Dating Destination

TVB’s currently aired series, The Rippling Blossom <魚躍在花見> contains the most exceptional scenery found in recent years. Segments of the series were filmed in Furano, Otaru, Sapporo , Hakodate and other places in Japan . The Rippling Blossom star, Tavia Yeung  Yi, admitted that she often frequented Japan during her vacation breaks due to its shopping opportunities. However, Tavia especially loved Otaru for its romance!

Aside from Tokyo , Tavia was unable to visit other parts of Japan in the past. Since the filming of The Rippling Blossom took place in Hokkaido , Tavia was able to enjoy the stunning local scenery. “I was so happy! No words can describe the beautiful scenery in Hokkaido . Although it was very cold during the filming, this did not affect my happy mood.” Tavia also praised the local cuisine; her favorite was seafood and the fresh fruit. Since she ate a lot of food while in Hokkaido , Tavia gained a bit of weight.

While filming in Japan , Tavia took advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the local attractions. Tavia and Myolie Wu Hang Yee filmed at Hoheikyo hot springs for a scene in The Rippling Blossom. While soaking in the hot springs , Tavia took the opportunity to relax. If there is a chance, Tavia would like to take her mother to soak in Japan ’s hot springs in the snowy weather.

Since The Rippling Blossom focused on food-related content, the cast and crew often filmed at the Tsukiji Fish Market. Tavia said, “I’ve never been to the fish market in Hong Kong, so it was quite an experience to see the fish market in Japan .” However, Tavia’s most beloved location in Japan was Otaru. Due to its romantic scenery, lovers would be mesmerized by Otaru’s beautiful locale. When will Tavia be traveling to Otaru with her boyfriend? Tavia laughed, “I can not do that right now, since I do not have a boyfriend. When there is an opportunity to do so, I will let you know! Ha ha!”

Since the Japanese Yen has soared in recent years, Tavia joked that she has to support the Hong Kong economy and do her shopping there. “The clothes in Hong Kong look pretty stylish. Although the prices are inexpensive, it is a shopping haven..”

  1. The Rippling Blossom may be filmed in such beautiful locations, but the storyline is run of the mill and to have such budget wasted on such a boring storyline, it is such a waste. Worse it the typecast of Japanese men and women and the OTT abt sushi making.

    1. I have the same feeling as you about Rippling Blossom. I cannot judge the series accurately since I have not watch it. So, my opinion is only based on the trailer and preview of the series.

I like the cast and I like sushi and the scenery is beautiful. But, somehow, I’m not motivated to watch the series. The series looks boring based on the trailer, preview and premise.

The actual series might be entertaining. I don’t know.

      1. Watch and judge first. It’s much better than the 8.30 series 7D in Life. Cuter storyline and cuter people like Chilam, Tavia.

      2. 7D is quite nice if you watch it carefully :). I quite like Myolie and Chilam in TRB but the other couple is quite annoying.

      3. I like 7D. Initially, I thought how it’s going to sustain audience interest with them stuck in one setting all the time. I got this feeling while 1/3 into the series. But, it keeps getting better. By the end, I like this story a lot. This is like a ‘slice of life’ story. I like that story doesn’t focus only on the lead. Many side characters are fleshed out and they are allocated time to tell their story. This is an ensemble cast effort. So, even thought the ratings are not very good, ‘7 Days in Life’ is a successful series in my book.

      4. Agree with Kidd and Fox. I actually enjoyed 7 Days a lot. I thought they developed the supporting cast quite well, too and each had their distinctive personalities and backgrounds. And I thought Sonija improved quite a bit in this series. It was quite different from the other series recently. Rippling Blossoms is alright. I like the cast. But I don’t find the story that intriguing and I thought there was a similat series some time ago, too. And I think too that they go OTT about sushi making. Yes, it’s important to make good sushi, but to go into how a slice of fish is cut or what fish used to be on the sushi, or how to sort and wash the rice, I think is unecessary. I really doubt all sifu’s will go through the basket to sort all the good rice from the bad rice before washing it.

Maybe they can do that for high class luxurious sushi restaurant where one plate of fish sushi caused HK$100. 😛

Btw, do they make any other sushi other than fish sushi? The series seems to focus on fish sushi only.

      6. Uhm making sushi is an art, but not only fish sushi means make sushi :P. The fish isn’t that important as there are thousand kinds of sushi. And focus on salmon too much is not very rite :P.

Even in luxurious restaurant, the cook sifu dun buy salmon themselves :). There is a person who do all of these things in the restaurant.

  2. i actually love the storyline. i find it light-hearted comedy.

perhaps i’m not too picky anymore … lol.

  3. I find the drama pretty interesting to watch, and I’m also a Tavia fan (:

Can’t wait for more episodes to broadcast !

  4. I really like Rippling Blossoms! It’s very cute and I like the storyline and chemistry between the different characters.

  5. I really love this series too! The scenery is top class and the storylines are cute. I love Chilam like crazy now! He’s so cute like a little boy! 😀 Kawaiiii

    1. I love Chilam and Tavia in this series! Annnd, I’m now also starting to like Myolie. However, Michael’s character is making me dislike him.

      1. Yeah, Michael’s character is mean and so conceited, which is kinda annoying. Myolie looks great in the series with that short purpleish hair and her acting has improved alot since her last series.

  6. I had the same negative opinions of the drama itself before I watched it. I thought it was waaaay OTT for a series that’s food related but for some odd reason (maybe it’s due to Myolie and Chilam’s chemistry — or maybe it’s just Chilam himself), the drama is fun.

I don’t really think it really translates in real life but it is, after all, a drama. You’re supposed to suspend your disbeliefs and just watch it for the entertainment value – regardless of how far-fetched the plot is.

  7. The storyline may be boring but when you have amazing actors such as chilam and michael tse then it doesn’t matter as much I find it very entertaining to watch

  8. Surprising enough I originally didn’t like Michael and Tavia’s pairing but I find their love/hate relationship refreshing. The movie itself, with the beautiful casts and the scenery, it’s is quite nice to watch.

  9. I kinda like this series. Okay, obviously the storyline is nothing crazy like Moonlight resonance/heart of greed or whatever. But it’s a nice light series to enjoy and watch on spare time.. also loving the cast, even if the story sucks.. ohwell, the good acting is worth the watch.
