Wong Cho Lam Spent Five Days Proposing to Leanne Li
Celebrity couple Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍) and Leanne Li (李亞男) have recently appeared in a new episode of the Chinese variety show Household Men <做家務的男人> to share tidbits of their private life, also revealing their daughter Gabrielle for the first time on TV. Wong Cho Lam also talked about how proposing to Leanne had taken him five whole days, describing the process as “terrifying.”
Famous in mainland China for his comedic appearance on the popular game show Keep Running <奔跑吧兄弟>, Wong Cho Lam and his wife Leanne Li have recently placed their emphasis on building a fruitful career in China. Appearing on the variety show Household Men, the couple opened up cameras to tour their home in Hong Kong, and also allowed their daughter, Gabrielle, to appear on camera for the first time. The show also covered Leanne’s process of her prenatal check-up in Shanghai. Leanne is currently pregnant with their second child. They did not reveal the sex of the baby on the show, but it was mentioned by the doctor that their baby is growingly healthily.
On the topic of marriage, Wong Cho Lam shared on the show that it took him five whole days to propose to Leanne. The actor-comedian famously proposed to Leanne on live TV in November 2014, during TVB’s 48th Anniversary Gala.
“It was seriously like an official proposal,” said Wong Cho Lam. “The kind where you had to first tell the parents that you want to marry their daughter. Either way, your only target was to succeed. It was terrifying.”
Leanne said she could tell Cho Lam was very nervous when he proposed to her. “It was super nerve wracking and also super embarrassing,” she laughed.
On tips on how to propose to parents successfully, Cho Lam, “You have to express your sincerity first. Prepare a genuine gift. Then, use whatever you can in your power to perfect the details of the wedding. You want them to be surprised but also impressed. You need them to feel that you really want to sincerely marry their daughter.”
