Music survival show Youth With You <青春有你> has officially started its casting call for season three, and fans are less than pleased.

The music group competition show, which started in 2018 as Idol Producer <偶像练习生>, is known for producing some of the industry’s most popular rising stars, most notably Idol Producer’s Cai Xukun (蔡徐坤). Idol Producer debuted the boy group Nine Percent, which disbanded 18 months after their debut as contracted.

UNINE debuted on April 6, 2019.

Due to plagiarism accusations with South Korea’s Produce 101, Idol Producer revamped its format and was renamed to Youth with You for the 2019 season. One hundred boy trainees from various talent agencies across Greater China competed for a spot in a boy group, and the group UNINE, led by UNIQ member Li Wenhan (李汶翰), debuted on April 6, 2019.

The second season casted female trainees, and the girl group THE9 debuted on May 30, 2020.

On July 21, Youth with You producers announced that iQIYI has already greenlit a third season, and they are in preparations to round up a new set of male trainees to compete for a new boy group. Surprisingly, fans of the show were not pleased with the quick response. Fans pointed out that THE9 had only just debuted, and that they would rather see more effort and resources being put on the current group instead of changing focus to the next one.
