“A Change of Heart” Synopsis

To improve the viewership ratings for the summer, TVB will be launching producer Nelson Cheung’s (張乾文) new drama, A Change of Heart <好心作怪>, starring Michael Miu (苗僑偉), Bosco Wong (黃宗澤), Joey Meng (萬綺雯), Niki Chow (周麗淇), Mandy Wong (黃智雯), and Vincent Wong (王浩信).

Synopsis

The storyline centers around Michael, who plays Fong Chi Lik (Power), a ruthless businessman with coronary heart disease and eventually undergoes a heart transplant surgery that will ultimately change his life. Bosco initially plays Yiu Yut San, a doctor who dies in an accident and is the one who gives Power the heart. Because of this surgery, Michael turns into a good man with a caring attitude, and entangles himself in a love triangle between Yut San’s fiancée, Yuen Siu Gut (Niki Chow) and his own wife, Tang Sin Hang (Joey Meng).

On the other hand, Yut San’s twin brother, Yiu Yuet San (Bosco Wong) returns to Hong Kong to prepare for his brother’s funeral and also falls in love with Siu Gut. Wanting to repay Yut San’s good deed, Power lends a helping hand to his twin brother, who soon becomes highly successful in the business field. Bosco’s character will also have a relationship storyline with Ha Shiga (Mandy Wong). The plot thickens when Yuet San finds out that his twin brother’s death was not an accident and further investigates to uncover the truth.

180-Degree Changes in Roles

Aside from Power’s change after the heart transplant, the majority of the cast members will be playing roles that are different from what they’re used to. Joey Meng’s last drama was the popular comedy, Inbound Troubles <老表, 你好嘢!>, where she was a kind social worker. In A Change of Heart, she plays the scheming wife of Power, who appears to be regular socialite but actually uses merciless tactics to get her way. Her relationship with Power eventually falls out because Sin Hang dislikes Power’s change into a kinder man.

Mandy Wong transforms herself into a party girl for her new role as a Public Relations associate who doubles as a prostitute. Usually, Mandy’s roles are quite reserved, but this time she revealed she had to visit bars in real life to gather research and get into character.

On the flip side, Vincent Wong who is used to acting in princely roles, takes on the challenge of playing a shabby-looking cardiologist, Tang Sin Wo. Sin Wo is also Sin Hang’s stepbrother, but contrary to his sister’s heartless personality, Sin Wo is a happy-go-lucky guy who loves to daydream and has a wild imagination.

Other supporting cast members include, JJ Jia (賈曉晨), Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪), Elaine Yiu (姚子羚), and Benz Hui (許紹雄). Often getting roles that give her a bad image, JJ plays the innocent and easy-going wife of calculating lawyer, Ting Jun Ping (Benjamin Yuen). Lastly, Elaine will be portraying Yip Wing Sze, the rude and spoiled daughter of Yip Sai Gau (Benz Hui). Due to having been raised in a single-parent household, Wing Sze is used to getting her ways and often throws a tantrum when things go wrong. Her love-hate relationship with Sin Wo will create a comedic atmosphere.

Nelson Cheung’s Take on the Series

A Change of Heart uses the idea of a heart transplant to lay down the basis for the plot. Due to the literal case of changing hearts, Michael’s character experiences a changing attitude towards life and the people around him. Nelson revealed that each episode would contain a special message that will hopefully reach the hearts of the audience. Nelson added, “Michael’s change doesn’t happen overnight; it slowly progresses throughout the series, beginning with the way he views society. The series will show the gradual and amplified changes in his heart from evil to good.”

A Change of Heart will be aired on TVB Jade on June 3.

  1. I think this series will for sure be better than Bullet brain and the others, ratings will for sure be good, but we never know.

  2. I remembered watching a similar plot with the heart transplant idea. I think Lawrence Ng and Ada Choi. It’s cute as a science fiction romance. Hope it turns out good. A little disturbing to watch Niki kissing Michael Miu . Why can’t they pick Ron Ng, he look like a badass or Kevin.

    1. But then they have to replace Joey Meng as well >__<|||

      1. It will be awkward that Joey is the wife for Ron/Kevin!
And I certainly rather watching Michael’s than woody Ron/Kevin!

      2. Joey and Kevin are around the same age so it’s not really weird…

      3. michael miu is more wooden than ron/kevin!

      4. michael not wooden as well his natural and talented

      5. they can pick another girl…this sound fictional but hey
        -kevin kissing niki
        -myolie replacing joey
there we go, we got kevin/niki and myolie/bosco in a drama. the OMG pairings for everyone…i bet if TVB change to this type of cast the rating will go sky rocking.!!!

      6. “there we go, we got kevin/niki and myolie/bosco in a drama. the OMG pairings for everyone…i bet if TVB change to this type of cast the rating will go sky rocking”

That is so funny. LOL 🙂

    2. I like the members cast in the roles but I cringed when I saw Niki kissing Michael too… Was that scene really necessary?

    3. @H
      OMGoshh!! I’m surprised that WHAT?!!’
Joey and Kevin around the SAME AGE?!!
Wow!! Kevin do look young compared with Joey!! but still doesn’t like his acting 😉

      1. @Yen Kevin is 1 year older. I don’t like Kevin’s acting either 😛

      2. yeah Joey is thin and haggard, hence looks old. Not pretty too.

  3. Sounds like they are trying more character development in this series compared to most. I hope it works out well and they explore it more in future dramas. Will defo be watching this one. (mostly because of Michael Miu lol) I wish he would do more than one drama per year!

  4. I CAN’T WAIT TO WATCH IT!!

    Great casts!!!

Just reading the Synopsis, I’m already WOWHHHH!!!

  5. this seems very interesting drama, i don’t mind Michael pairing with Niki, Michael look young and hot as always 🙂 can’t wait to watch.

    1. he’s Barbara Yung era … he’s old T_T more like an uncle/dad kissing a niece/daughter.

  6. maybe going to watch this. Old man Micheal mui is a good actor.

    1. although he’s better than raymond lam in highs and lows, michael miu is still as wooden as a log and is a one note actor as the ‘handsome guy’

  7. I’ve been waiting and waiting for “a change of heart.” I’m going to die if this doesn’t come out in June! >.<

  8. I’m excited to watch this. Finally something substantial that isn’t a sequel of something else. Hehe.

  9. excited, excited, excited! Have been looking forward for this series. Hope HK viewers would not complain too much about it.

  10. michael miu is overrated since he can’t act, and bosco again? had enough of him no thanks. niki also can’t act.

glad to hear that the 4 breakthroughs come from joey, mandy and elaine instead of the above leads! joey and mandy’s roles are the most amazing and i will onlyl look at them and forward all others.

the storyline is lame and too centered on one person which is michael miu. hate series like this such as bullet brain that centered too much on eva.

    1. Many are overrated these days(including your favorite Myolie). Micheal is a veteran actor but even his acting is debatable just like anyone.

      1. agree many r over rated including tvb 3 time tv king that is more then over rated by far

    2. michael is so not overrated housewives love his role if he was overrated he would have won a tv king title in the s michaellast few years tvb under rates michael as well as al the other actors that are truley under rated and can act best then the current tv king

      1. he is better than raymond. he’s charming as an oldiee…

      2. Of course he’s better than Raymond besides Raymond is not one of those really good actors. He’s decent

    3. Michael is much better than many so called actors in TVB. He’s way better than Kevin Cheng, Raymond Lam etc…

Ps. I’m embracing myself for the wrath to come…

  11. I’m looking forward to this very eagerly. Finally something worth watching.

    1. It worth watching because all good actors
& actress are in this drama – like Michael Mui, Bosco, Niki Chow, Joey Meng & Mandy Wong. All are my idols unlike Bullet Brain – it was worst because of Sire Ma’s poor acting!

  12. Genuinely excited. Have always loved Michael Miu’s dramas. And can’t wait to see Niki Chow again 😀

      1. AGREED!!!
I’m not sure of Michael but I’ve seen Bosco real-person before and OMGoshh, SO GOOD LOOKING!!

      2. humans are humans. they look good because they have symmetric face?

  13. Hmm, same producer of Wax and Wane and L’escargot, two terrible and crap series. The plot seems complicated, wanna know how the script-writer to arrange this 30 eps contemporary drama, whether is good, not bad or bad 😛

    1. I am watching L’escargot right now and I am loving the drama

    2. but also the same producer of Dicey Business and You’re Hired…so it can’t be that bad

  14. Both of them are in many series together, must be buddies by now…lol…

  15. Its actually WATCHABLE. Finally TVB. This could potentially be in 30 point range.

  16. Having the label “TVB veteran” isn’t necessarily a good thing because it means none of the HK commercial directors have any interest in you.

  17. I really really really look forward to this drama for some reason

  18. I am thoroughly enjoying this drama so far, which I am very pleased about since all of the recent TVB dramas have been disappointing. However, am I the only one whose brutally annoyed by Mandy’s character? I HATE her so much. I can’t stand watching her whenever she goes on screen. The character is so aggravating. Hopefully she develops into a better character or at least doesn’t have a big role in this drama because I seriously do not want to see this character anymore.
