Grace Chan and Sisley Choi to Film “Trade War”

New TVB modern drama, Trade War <商戰>, is scheduled to start filming in March 2014. Starring Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), Ron Ng (吳卓羲), Edwin Siu (蕭正楠), Kenny Wong (黃德斌), and Johnson Lee (李思捷), the drama will focus on quarrels within the business industry. In addition, Miss Hong Kong favorites, Grace Chan (陳凱琳) and Sisley Choi (蔡思貝), have been invited to join the cast. Producer Marco Law (羅永賢) announced the two girls have the abilities and would be given much screen-time in their first performances.

“During the finals [of the beauty pageant], I already noticed they received a lot of the votes and are favored by the audience. After auditioning Grace and Sisley, they proved their potential with surprising performances,” said Producer Law. Wayne Lai added he has seen Sisley while filming the sales presentation, and praised her for her natural acting. “I think it’s a good idea to offer opportunities to those who are new to the industry.”

A trailer of Trade War will be released during the TVB Sales Presentation held on Thursday, November 7. It is one of the four dramas in 2014 under TVB executive, Catherine Tseng (曾勵珍). Originally, The Confidant 2 was supposed to start filming in March, but it has been delayed partly due to Aimee Chan’s (陳茵媺) birth delivery plans. Hoping Aimee will participate in the sequel, filming will allegedly start after she delivers her baby.

Aimee announced she has a passion for acting and does not want to give up her career after becoming a mother. “I am looking forward to collaborating with experienced veterans. I can learn a lot from them and listen to their opinions on acting.” Aimee expressed she hopes she will have the chance to work with Wayne once again.

As the main lead in both Trade War and The Confidant 2, Wayne’s schedule for the first half of next year seems to be packed. However, he is not yet tired out. “It’s okay to film 60 episodes in a year. There is still room for breaks. Trade War has a refreshing plot line, and it’s good that filming will start early.”

  1. woahhh they look reallly similar!!! when i first saw the picture i had to take a second look! haha
but i’m not very excited that they are given such heavy roles in a series so early on….in the recent years there hasn’t been any miss hong kong/miss chinese int’l that have acted well….

    1. Jealous much? They’re at least prettier than most average women

      1. I notice people in Jaynstars are never afraid to find the opportunity to step down on someone who looks remotely pretty. They either have super high standard or super low self-esteem.

      2. They’re so-so. Above average but I don’t see anything unique about them

      3. @Woooo,
Comparing to others Miss HK such as Fala Chen or Kristine Kuo, both girls above are not pretty at all.

    2. Agree. I don’t think they are pretty. They look okay, but not pretty to me. Their faces are too narrow and long with pointed chins.

  2. Whoa isn’t this too fast? TVB looks too desperate to promote fresh faces when longtime good actresses such as Nancy, Mandy and Elaine are still not getting their leading roles.

    1. TVB is lacking artists and talent right now. However, it is not new of TVB to just push the new Ms HKs with no acting experience and talent into series so this is not the first time. We all saw how that turned out. Also, doesn’t Grace have to fulfill her Ms HK duties?? I thought that you cannot be in any series until your Ms HK duties are done???

I agree that other longtime actress still have not been promoted to leading actress yet but they are bringing these new pageant winners in. It is no wonder most of TVB ‘s recent series are so bad.

      1. lol you blame the bad quality of tvb series is due to the miss hk,how biased is that.since when took they the chair of the directors and scripwriters?
off course miss hk doesnt have experience in acting but if you dont give them a chance, they will never have.

      2. That is definitely one of the factors but of course it is not the only reason why TVB series are so bad lately. I always say there is more to a series than just cast, however, I do not deny that having a bad cast does bring a series down too. But of course the script and plot can bring a series done even more.

      3. I did not mean to say to not give them a chance but at least give them some kind of training. It is unfair to just throw them into a series without any kind of foundation.

      4. Yes, give them a chance but not “lead” roles.

Nowadays, anyone who cares about good acting needs to pay attention to who is cast to play the lead roles. And, skip the series if the lead roles are played by people with little to no acting experience.

    2. do you still dont understand?nancy, mandy, elaine, are not first lead material, they doesnt possess that charisma that you need for first lead,no matter how good their acting is, otherwise everybody who have good acting can be the first lead.the only one that tvb should promote to be first lead is natalie tong.

      1. That is just your personal opinion since me and others think Nancy for example is a good actress and should be given a chance to play the lead actress. Acting is subjective to some extent as well. For example, I never thought of Charmaine as a good actress but she rakes in the bucks and continues to play leading roles and is a sought after actress. It is the same with Moses. My mom and I do not understand why he gets to play leading roles and is a popular actor. But many seem to really like him.

      2. yes, thats ur opinion. In my opnion, natalie’s acting is boring and dull, i dont think she deserves to be the first lead.
nancy’s acting is wayyy better and she does have that charisma..

      3. Mandy and Nancy’s acting are good. I don’t think Natalie’s acting are better than them or she has more charisma compare to them.

      4. Nancy and Mandy are better than those pageants people who are heavily promoted. In my view, Nancy should have been promoted to first lead a long time ago!

      5. I agree with HTS re Charmaine. Not so much re Moses, I don’t think he’s a great actor per se, but for some reason I like his comedic, less serious roles, entertaining.

      6. are you serious? Nancy has charisma didn’t you watch twin of brothers? she stole the limelight from Leila supposedly second female lead. Natalie couldn’t carry out any of her series well always playing annoying characters or pitiful ones.

      7. Natalie doesn’t have charisma and acts like a whiny teenager in her dramas. She has a second lead role in The 7th Day but her immature teenage girl looks don’t bring her anymore lead roles after. She improved a lot in Bullet Brain.

    3. I agree with HTS. Not a single reason that contributes to TVB’s deterioration, but it certainly is one of the main reasons for the poor quality. These pageants so called beauties are not that beautiful relatively speaking. But the worst part is lack of training. Look at the amount of beauties in mainland series, they are more beautiful and have been trained in colleges. Even those who acted in their first mainland series can act better than Myolie Wu. Eg. The actress who played Zheng Er in Lan Ling Wang.

  3. So Wayne is the new Kong Wah that is babysitting Miss HKs?

    1. Haha! I remembered those days.

Noel Leung was the female equivalent often pairing up with new siu sangs (Chilam, Louis, etc.)

  4. As long as they don’t pair up Wayne with one of the Miss Hks, then I’m fine with it. I kinda wish they would switch out one of the male leads with a female one since female executives should be represented too!

    1. I agree. Female executive with a stay at home husband looking after kids. Or female chairman. Or how a female executive needs to be more cunning and cut throat to break the glass ceiling and get to the top.

  5. The two girls are even skinnier than Tavia, Fala and them. Especially Grace!

      1. I suppose marilyn monroe will be deem fat by today’s standard. Sad isn’t it? All these big heads and boy’s bodies are depressing.

  6. It’s sad that people can’t just be happy for others. I am sure that the two of them are nervous about their new roles, but I honestly think they will give their best effort. I hope people can learn to be supportive of others and wish them the best.

    1. I suppose you can say their colleagues can be supportive of them but viewers need not be; viewers owe them nothing so if they are epic fail in their first role which is almost always will be the case, they just need to face the criticism and better themselves. Viewers will be harsh, as long as no personal attacks of course.

  7. I am not jealous or anything, just voice out my opinion. Both of them not pretty at all. All so called pretty girls now look like bobble head.

  8. They’re postponing The Confidant 2 for Aimee…but did not postpone that one production with Joey Meng for Bobby (and instead pushing Johnson Lee into the lead)? Poor decision making again…

    1. Really? It is no wonder TVB will eventually get flushed down the toilet.

    1. I agree, she is actually naturally pretty. The other one is barely cute.

  9. My only hope is that TVB does not pair any of them with Wayne.

    1. I don’t mind if they are cast as Wayne Lai’s daughters.
