Tavia Yeung Saves Kenneth Ma on the Set of “The Hippocratic Crush 2”

*Spoilers!*

In hopes to wrap up in time for a late 2013 release, the cast and crew of The Hippocratic Crush 2 <On Call 36小時II>, the sequel to TVB’s popular 2012 television drama of the same name, are up against a tight filming deadline. The series’ main leads are so busy that they do not even have time to have dinner with their mothers.

“We’re working everyday now,” said Tavia Yeung (楊怡), the lead star of The Hippocratic Crush 2. “[Kenneth Ma] and I have late night location shoots too.”

Tavia, Kenneth, and Gigi Wong (黃淑儀) were spotted shooting a vehicle crash and ambulance scene near Tseung Kwan O today. A public light bus crashed onto Kenneth, severely injuring him. For the scene, an ambulance was rushed to the scene and an unconscious Kenneth was sent to the hospital. Kenneth’s wife, Tavia, and his mother, Gigi, stood by his side and cried.

Both portraying doctors, Tavia was asked if she had performed CPR on Kenneth. “Even CPR couldn’t save him. He had to be sent to the operation room!”

As netizens love to spot goofs in TVB dramas, would the The Hippocratic Crush 2 stars be worried about these criticisms in their own drama? Tavia expressed her confidence in the show and said, “The first installment was quite successful and it was done pretty well.”

Kenneth added, “We also have doctors on set to supervise the scene, so things won’t turn out too ridiculous.”

On the topic of Mother’s Day celebrations, the onscreen couple expressed that they had to work all day on today and would not able to celebrate the special with their mothers. Did Tavia’s mother request to see her future son-in-law (Him Law 羅仲謙)? “My mother? Nope! But she did just learn how to use a smartphone, so I bought a new phone for her. She was quite happy.” Has Him come up with any strategies to flatter his mother-in-law? “We are all very busy. We don’t have time for any of this!”

As many of their TVB colleagues have now switched their career focus to mainland China, would Kenneth and Tavia also consider this change as well? Kenneth revealed that he has had mainland Chinese dramas offered to him before, but due to his busy schedule, he turned them down. “I am not too greedy. One drama per year is enough for me. I’m afraid that I won’t be too used to [the lifestyle] if I were to leave [Hong Kong] for too long. I can’t do what Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) does, living in mainland for a long period of time. I can’t do that.”

Tavia admitted, “I’ve filmed one [mainland Chinese drama] before, but afterwards I turned other offers down because of my busy schedule. I would like to film another though.”

The 33-year-old actress revealed that she is currently negotiating a contract renewal with TVB. “All I want is to have an opportunity to develop my career further. TVB is my mother company after all; I cannot leave TVB.”

  1. kenneth is so humble and he must be not willing to separate from his mom that’s why he can’t bare to film more than one mainland series per year. so cute. but staying in mainland and film many mainland series is not greedy. like kevin, he knew his market is the mainland and he made the best decision to move his entire life there 🙂 support kenneth and kevin both

    1. Just from his popularity in OnCall within the mainland market, i’m sure it will not difficult for him to increase his popularity if he was to break into the Mainland. However, as you mentioned moving away from his family is not something he’s willing to sacrifice since he’s an extremely family-oriented person. For Kevin, moving to the Mainland was a better decision for him, as for Kenneth staying in HK seems to be his personal best choice. Besides, Kenneth seems really content and happy with what he has and can gain in HK, although im sure every artist would like to earn RMB, no money can buy time spent with family…I support his decision in staying 🙂

  2. so the news about tavia so called ‘leaving’ was a hoax. wonder if she even get any offers from mainland after the supporting role in harem. she was only paid 40,000 RMB for that series which is low for a mainland series at that time.

    1. She did turn down a lot of offers from mainland producers due to her contract with TVB which she has to film a certain number of episodes per year. That’s why you see she has filmed TVB dramas nonstop.

With Moses, Kenneth and Tavia current contract conditions, no way for them to have time filming mainland series.

      1. Tavia did mention that in her discussion with renewing her contract with tvb, she did suggest that she requested the company to allow her some time and opportunity to develop her career further with Mainland offers. I hope she gets a chance to film another Mainland series soon, possibly a modern series since her 1st and previous one was an ancient drama.

  3. kenneth and Tavia are so loyal to TVB. I support both of them

  4. kenneth looks prettier than tavia in the picture above 😀

  5. I hope TVB will value their actor/actress more. everyone is leaving for mainland or HTV. and TVB is just trying to stay stable by taking ATV actresses/actors. hate to say this but TVB’s drama/shows/actor/actress is going downhill.
