“Triumph in the Skies 2” Will Not Air Next Year

Francis Ng (吳鎮宇) was holding in his anger as he updated a depressing status on his Weibo two days ago, writing, “Not in a good mood… I found out that due to certain reasons, [Triumph in the Skies II <衝上雲霄II>] will not be able to air next year!”

The post attracted over a thousand comments and over two thousand reblogs. TVB fans panicked, wondering what on earth would cause such a long postponement for the anticipated TVB-produced blockbuster. Fans also angrily expressed their concerns and disappointment at TVB through their Weibos.

It all turned out that it was just an early April’s Fool joke by Francis. Yesterday, Francis posted another status on Weibo, confirming that Triumph in the Skies 2 will air this year, as scheduled. He wrote, “Okay, that previous Weibo post was to test if those pig heads were qualified to join my club. The reason why [Triumph in the Skies 2] will be unable to air next year is because it will air this year! If you could not figure out the clues behind my words, then congratulations, you are now a VIP member of the Pig Head Club.”

Triumph in the Skies 2 producer, Joe Chan (陳維冠), expressed that he is currently supervising the drama’s post-production work. Although a premiere date has not been set, Joe assured that the pilot drama will be ready in time to broadcast sometime within the latter months of 2013.

In related news, Jonathan Chik’s (戚其義) Beauty at War <金枝慾孽(貳)>, the 30-episode sequel to the award-winning 2004 period drama War and Beauty, is scheduled to premiere on TVB’s Jade and HD Jade channels on April 22, 2013, at 9:30 PM. The Qing Dynasty palace drama, which stars Sheren Tang (鄧萃雯), Ada Choi (蔡少芬), Christine Ng (伍詠薇), Moses Chan (陳豪), and Kenny Wong(黃德斌), is Jonathan Chik’s last television production with TVB.

The Slicing of the Demon <凶城計中計>, a 2007 paranormal period drama produced by Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles <名媛望族> producer Chong Wai Kin (莊偉建), will premiere on Jade on April 18 at 2:45 PM.

  1. I thought Beauty At War would be an Anniversary Series. Why air so early? Is it to keep the non-TVB ppl (Sheren, Ada) from contending for TV Queen?

    1. It’s predicted for the game this year.

Btw will Ron is the only nominator of 620’s side this year?

      1. ron was filming this when he was breaking up with that mainland girl lets see if it affected his acting

      2. Nope, I mean that this year is another year of Catherine’s side cover all when 620 only has Ron with TITS2.

      3. Actually they broke up during him filming SeSon Of Love or they actually already did. I do hope to see Ron get nominated its quite sad he hadn’t been for the last few yrs

    2. think so too. tvb appeared to push linda this year. there are lots of articles about Brother’s keeper almost everyday. While I’m happy the media and tvb are promoting ruco as the next action tv king, i’m not confident about linda since she keeps on doing damsel in distress roles.

      1. I hope her character in brother’s keepers is not that goody goody if not i dont think she has a chance at tvb anniversary awards.

    3. To be honest it is so disappointing to know they will air beauty at war so early since it is likely that the drama will become forgotten. They should make it an anniversary drama!!!!!!!!!

      1. Worry for a successful series that can flood the master plan they are planing to give to Rosy 3?

      2. Don’t forget the first Rosy Business aired at that time. If its truly good, nothing will overshadow it. BTROC was an anniversary series and it was crushed by RB in 2009.

    4. I had a feeling this would happen, due to producer Jonathan Chik leaving TVB as well as Sheren and Ada no longer being TVB contract artistes.

Also I wonder if TVB isn’t confident about how Beauty at War will perform in terms of ratings due to the frosty reception towards Jonathan Chik’s recent dramas.

The media certainly seems to be hyping up Brother’s Keeper lately; wonder if it’s going to be an anniversary series instead.

    5. Not everything’s about the damn awards…Can’t people just watch a drama for guilty pleasure without thinking if the series will be nominated for an award??
I mean they have quite a few “grand” productions lined up so its not like they can air it all in Nov/Dec 2013…and I’m pretty sure that fans will be like WTF if they say it’s being pushed back till Nov/Dec 2014. So, i’m sure they’ll have to out some drama somewhere in between.

And there are some successful dramas that weren’t aired in Nov/Dec time slots. EX: Ghetto Justice, The Hippocratic Crush, When Heaven Burns (which aired in the “worst” time period slots & got for some reason got best series) and many more….

People it’s not always about awards. You people always complain about this and that about TVB. Can’t you people just sit and enjoy some good OR bad drama. Instead of always taking it online?

    1. Yeah me too!
And LOL at Francis. It would be nice to air it next year… It will give us some time to refresh XD

  2. Of course it will not air next year because TVB wants to air it THIS YEAR perhaps?

  3. lol that’s a good one Francis, I laughed a little.

I’m not bringing my hopes up on the sequel since I didn’t enjoy the first one that much, but I do like Francis’ acting.

  4. This year we going to witness big fight for TVB Best Drama

Triumph in the Skies II / Beauty at War II / Rosy Business 3 / The Hippocratic Crush II and not forgetting Inbound Troubles

    1. You forgot Brother’s keeper and Sniper 2013. These are big and hyped productions too with lots of media coverage.

    2. Oh please, Inbound Troubles is not that special. It will be long forgotten by the time the awards ceremonies roll around

      1. “When Heaven Burns” long forgotten, but wins 2012 Best Drama

    3. I heard Change of Heart was slated to air early but changed it to late this yr that’s also a worthy series! The plot is interesting and the cast. Also Bobby’s and Esther’s series

  5. Wow! They’ve decided to air The Slicing of the Demon! I might rewatch that since I remember it being quite decent. Also, why is TVB airing warehoused series with Bernice in it? I like her a lot but don’t they dislike her? o-o

Also looking forward to Beauty at War! 😀

  6. That’s fine w/me since i dont even like the first part haha… LOOK at that big head of the film king up there, hahaha funny looking as usual and overrated.

  7. Slicing of the Demon was bad. Why air it?

Ahh…I originally thought Beauty at War will be an anni series, but I forgot Johnathan Chik is no longer with TVB. Oh well.

  8. People put way too much emphasis on being an anniversary series. Ever since the best drama award was introduced, no anniversary series has ever won it. Wayne is also the only person who won best actor with an anniversary series last year. Tavia and Myolie are also the only people who won best actress with an anniversary series and arguably people supported them more for THC and GJ than the anniversary series they were nominated for.

The odds don’t exactly favor anniversary series.

  9. Can’t wait to see triumph 2, since the first one was bad, I just really wanna see how bad the 2nd one is
