A Predictable Cheesy Ending for “Heart and Greed”

Heart and Greed <溏心風暴3> has finally ended, but the safe and predictable ending is so cheesy viewers don’t know why they even bothered.

The TVB anniversary drama, the third installment to the Heart of Greed franchise, aired its final episode on Friday, January 19. The ending surprised no one, especially if you read the reported spoilers. In standard Heart of Greed fashion, the story finished with a happy ending—all the good people lived happily ever after while the bad people get their punishment

In the last episode, Kau (Bosco Wong 黃宗澤) realizes his wrongdoings and is released from jail as a brand new person. Not only does his family forgive him, he immediately ties the knot with his soul mate Son (Priscilla Wong 黃翠如) and the two live happily ever after. Kau’s niece Venus (Sharon Chan 陳敏之) finds happiness with boyfriend Gei (Ben Wong 黃智賢), while ex-boyfriend Nic (Michael Tong 唐文龍), who had betrayed her feelings, is left struggling in another relationship. Kyle (Vincent Wong 王浩信) and Belle (Eliza Sam 岑麗香) can finally be together, joining their two families as well. Even Adam (Lee Shing-cheong 李成昌) and his wife have changed their evil ways.

The final scene features Ching Ba (Ha Yu), waking up from his coma, and calls out his savior, Alan’s (Joseph Lee) name.

All in all, it was a pretty predictable, cheesy ending with no surprises.

  1. I do enjoy cheng ba and alans relationship which is sort of true love. Until the end I still can’t I can’t understand what ah kau did wrong. Ok he shldnt have sort of cheated his nephew but he did return the company in better shape than ever. He shldnt have tried to get the gambling license but I can’t believe how ancient the thinking is for a modern day setting. Ah kau actually got punished for no good reason. He did pay back the money. Ah kau shld have been the one running the company. For me Wai ka isn’t good enough but of course series needs a villain. No one ever told ah kau so you are impotent, so? You become ambitious because you can get it up?? Sigh. And I was like seriously?! When belle wwid oh Wai ka doesn’t feel that way for me anymore. I was married before… What?! No worries. Wai ka still has the hots for you. 2 years of marriage and suddenly belle dresses like she’s been through a 10 year relationship. And poor Brian. No one cares not even belle. And Michelle yim… What’s she doing in there? There are no villains in the series or rather want to make a villain but don’t want to go all the way. What we have as expected are prolong kissing scenes and rolling on bed. I was expected the old ones to do that too.

    1. @funnlim Yes.. They can do so much better with the plot. End of the day, the villain is not so villain. Everything is so predicted and prolonged.

    2. @funnlim he was too driven in getting to the top, but didnt tell anyone (other than his gf and nephew close to the end) what his true motives were. he burned bridges & relationships, and hurt feeling to make more money. the company was starting to get a bad rep as a cold-hearted business. i think if he was more honest with his family, they would be more understanding to his predicament. and if they were aware of the gambling license, ah kau would then be told why the dad doesnt like gambling and he would have it pulled back.

i think belle’s change in wardrobe was to show that she is more mature compared to when we first saw her when she was pretty much still a young woman.

  2. the ending was really disappointing. i actually wanted bosco to succeed, keep his word and pay back everyone for their troubles. and once he revealed his impotence problem, they would realize that he didnt really go ‘villain’ but just his goals got askewed. was really expecting and hoping Michelle yim and her sister in law to be a villain or even ‘fire aunty’.
