Ivana Wong Shares Details of Boyfriend Eric So’s Proposal
Earlier, 36-year-old singer-songwriter and actress Ivana Wong (王菀之) announced that she will be marrying her 45-year-old boyfriend, Eric So (蘇卓航), director of Hong Kong creative agency Papamamason.
Ivana posted a photograph of the couple on Weibo and captioned it with lyrics from her song, “Good Hour” <好時辰>, loosely translated as “I’m so grateful to have met you, not too late and not too early”. Ivana subsequently commented on her own post, “Here’s wishing lovers all over the world with a happy ending. May they all live happily ever after. Eric So, you’re so lucky!!” It turns out that Ivana and Eric had already registered their marriage last month. The wedding ceremony will allegedly take place on November 28.
In response to queries from reporters, Ivana recounted the story of Eric’s proposal to her in April on South Korea. She said, “As I had to leave earlier to attend the Hong Kong Film Awards which was taking place on April 19, Eric proposed to me on the way to the airport. When I got the ring, I was at a loss for words – I had to return to Hong Kong, and he had to stay in South Korea. I felt such strong emotions then. He is so sweet. His idea was that as he did not know whether I would get an award at the Hong Kong Film Awards, he wished to first give me a ‘Best Woman’award, so he proposed just before I left for the awards ceremony.” Subsequently, Ivana won both the Best Supporting Actress and Best Newcomer awards at the Hong Kong Film Awards.
Before Eric and Ivana became acquainted with each other in late 2013, they were respectively involved in romantic rumors with other people. Ivana was linked with Hins Cheung (張敬軒) but the rumors dissipated when it became known that Hins was involved with Kenny Kwan (關智斌). Ivana then had romantic rumors with Alex Fung (馮翰銘), and lyricists Abrahim Chan (陳詠謙) and Leung Pak Kin (梁柏堅). As for Eric, he had previously dated various female celebrities, such as Candy Lo (盧巧音), Yoyo Mung (蒙嘉慧) and Helen To (杜如風).
Ivana’s rumored love interests expressed their well wishes. Hins wrote on Instagram, “My beloved has found her beloved, so I now have one more beloved. I give my sincerest blessings to this pair of artistes!” Alex also said during an interview, “I’m so happy! Congratulations to Ivana! You can finally escape the curse of having to marry Hins if you are still single by 35. I hope that you will have a baby soon!”
