Louis Cheung Embraces Bodybuilding Passion

Despite criticism of his bulky physique, Louis Cheung is not afraid to embrace his bodybuilding passion.

Reaping rewards in both his career and marriage life, Louis Cheung (張繼聰) started his obsession of working out about two years ago and has been sticking to his training routine ever since. While he has posted photos of his muscular physique from training in the past, Louis’s recent “bigger” look has evoked negative comments regarding his physical appearance.

Louis said, “These two years, the question which I get most is, ‘Do you even exercise? Why are you so (fat)? I’ve been laughed at during filming for ‘not having a neck’!”

In an Instagram post recently, the 39-year-old actor shared about his personal journey. Committing to training on weekends despite his busy schedule, he refers to bodybuilding as an “art”. While “there are no short cuts”, results will be visible in a short time. He added that his trainer told him not to be afraid to eat to gain strength, and warned him that as a result of depositing fats, his physique will surely appear fat to outsiders in general.

Instead of feeling dejected, Louis said he is secretly glad, as the feedback proves that his intense training efforts have at least made a visible difference! Brimming with confidence, he added that he does not lack the courage to venture “out of his comfort zone”, and feels that opposition is inevitable if he wants to take a  different journey from others. “I’m not doing anything that’s hurting others, (therefore) why should I not be the best version of myself!”

Sharing his motivational personal beliefs, Louis said, “If you insist on doing what you want to do, then go for it. If you get tired at times, it’s okay, take a deep breath and then start over again!” Touched by Louis’ conviction in staying true to himself, many netizens are viewing him as a role model, while others have referenced his enlarged chest area and jokingly commented, “Since when have you become our ideal ‘sexy queen’!”

  1. I would blame Wong Cho Lam and the character he gave Louis Cheung in Inbound Troubles 2 for this body building addiction. This can be a bad addiction where people strive for crazily low percentage body fat….

  2. i think it’s a good thing to be passionate about something as long as one is not pressured in any way or form into it. bodybuilding however, does take a lot of toll on body, esp ones that dope on steroids to get big. even for natural ones, it could damage joints and nerves if not done correctly. anyway, his trainer looks really small in the pic and louis isn’t even that tall of a dude.
