Kristal Tin Copes with Cancer Relapse

Kristal Tin (田蕊妮) posted on social media today on April 17th, confirming that her cancer has returned. In December 2024, the 48-year-old former TVB actress publicly revealed that she was diagnosed with early-stage lung adenocarcinoma and underwent a successful surgery at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan.

Never expecting to face cancer again just over a year later, Kristal found it extremely hard to accept when she heard the news, and the first thought that came to mind was: “No way… cancer again?”

How Her Cancer Recurred

In a lengthy Facebook post, Kristal said that toward the end of 2025, she suddenly began having a persistent low-grade fever. Her physical condition fluctuated, sometimes better and sometimes worse, and despite repeated hospital visits, doctors were unable to identify the cause. It was only after Lunar New Year, when she was admitted to the hospital for a lymph node biopsy, that the results confirmed the presence of cancer cells.

Lung adenocarcinoma, a common type of cancer — is also the deadliest form of cancer in Hong Kong. Of the more than 4,000 to 5,000 new lung cancer cases recorded each year, around 80% are lung adenocarcinoma. Because early symptoms are often not obvious, more than 70% of patients are already in stage three or four by the time they are diagnosed. Kristal’s mother passed from cancer when she was 38.
