Andy Hui, Kay Tse, and G.E.M. Biggest Winners at 2014 Metro Radio Awards

The first Hong Kong music awards ceremony of the year, the 2014 Metro Radio Hits Music Awards, was held on December 26. A total of 152 awards were given out, and Andy Hui (許志安), Kay Tse (謝安琪), and G.E.M. (鄧紫棋) were the biggest winners of the night, each winning four awards. Hins Cheung (張敬軒), C AllStarPakho Chau (周柏豪), Kary Ng (吳雨霏), Alfred Hui (許廷鏗), Fred Cheng (鄭俊弘), and Jinny Ng (吳若希) were also major winners, each taking home three awards.

Due to the “no show, no award” policy, artistes like Eason Chan (陳奕迅), Joey Yung (容祖兒), Miriam Yeung (楊千嬅), and Hacken Lee (李克勤) were left empty-handed. Joey, who was holding her concert in the United States, could not attend the awards ceremony. EEG’s Ng Yu (吳雨) stated, “We have all seen Joey’s [good] results this year, and it is not necessary [for her] to be present at the awards ceremony to prove her success. Awards ceremonies need to be fair. As long as other singers who were not present didn’t get awards, then that is alright.”

  1. Read this news at another site couple or several days ago where they had pics of each winner along with the rest of the singers. My, talk about ugly fashion! And people were complaining about ugly fashions at TVB award. Lol. Hins Cheung gets top award for creepy! And why is Andy Hui still singing and getting awards, too??? Omg!

  2. yeah!!! so happy for all the mayor winners! so proud of Fred Cheng that got three awards for “New artiste of the year”!!!! 🙂

  3. That’s a lot of winners… did they award everyone who showed up? How canb you be the “best” with 2 other people. You’re not really the “best” then. Why are there two awards for band and group? Aren’t they the same thing?

  4. Not sure how valid some of these recipients are when I know someone else would’ve won if they turned up, especially when giving Andy Hui a big award, thats just desperate really.

  5. i simply don’t understand 152 awards….that’s too many – how many are actually songs related awards?

  6. So much redundancy/overlap and awards that make no sense. Why is there an ‘Asian’ category when they’re in Asia and practically all the winners are Chinese? How is being a good karaoke song an actual achievement?

  7. Andy Hui has been in the industry for so long, but I still don’t think he can sing.

    1. He’s the same as another more famous Andy. Both can’t sing but they have good songs written for them.

  8. This award ceremony never made sense. Don’t need to care about it.
