Cecilia Cheung Shows Off Valentine’s Gift from Nic Tse

On February 7th, Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung were spotted shopping at a mall in the Central District. Married for four years, the couple never failed to show public affection for each other and was spotted linking arms at the mall. Cecilia selected clothing for Nic while he sat on a sofa and read a magazine. On her blog afterwards, Cecilia posted a photo of a pink Chanel bag which Nic bought for her as a Valentine’s Day gift. Cecilia noted that she picked out the bag herself!

The 2011 Hong Kong Film Awards recently revealed their nomination list, in which Nic’s performance in The Stool Pigeon <線人> has been nominated in the Best Actor category. Nic won the Best Supporting Actor Award for his performance in Bodyguards and Assassins<十月圍城> last year and his career may be following a lucky streak. Facing fierce competition from fellow Best Actor nominees, such as Chow Yun Fat and Nick Cheung Ka Fai, it was already an honor for Nic Tse to be nominated in the prestigious awards.
During the Lunar New Year, Nic and Cecilia took their two sons on a 10-day vacation in Singapore . After returning from the trip, the couple was spotted in a mall in Central District. Cecilia happily gave reporters lucky packets stuffed with one hundred Yuan each.

Jayne: I found the above photos amusing, where Nic Tse, like most men, seems to find shopping boring. Cecilia loves to shop and most of her candid photos are taken at malls, either shopping with Lucas or Nic’s mother. The couple loves sunglasses and Cecilia thinks that wearing a hat would help make her less conspicuous?

  1. The more I see news like this the more I like Nic Tse. Look at how cool he is as a husband. Sitting there reading his magazine whilst she shops. A patient husband. Can we have husband of the year? My vote goes to Nic Tse, until some scandal rocks their marriage due to him.

      1. Same sentiments. I’ve been a fan of this couple since the days of Master Q 2001. Since then, and up to today, they still rank #1 on my favourite celebrity couples list. Seeing how affectionate and loving they continue to be warms my heart. I couldn’t be more happier for them!

      2. I have never had any feeling for this couple, or nic Tse until after the scandal and how each handled themselves. It was after that I felt I must reassess how I see Nic Tse. I never liked cecilia much as a personality, at one point I saw her as a hypocrite and when the scandal broke out I didn’t think much of her then until that come back interview and I felt her honesty was refreshing. But it was after I saw the Gillian Chung interview and compared it with Cecilia that I began to feel for cecilia and her predicament. And I never felt much for Nic’s parents too, felt the father at least was a vain peacock but the way they handled themselves after the scandal, I too reassess my views of them. All in all, this is a rather interestingly good family. I don’t know if their marriage will last but for what’s it is worth, I think each gave their best. I hope they will stick together.

      3. @Funn, everyone’s psyche is made of different stuff. Cecilia does come across as a strong person and she will not play victim to events beyond her control. In fact, the scandal made me like her more as a person. She and the entire Tse family have their flamboyant side, but many celebrities do enjoy their fame and status.

When news first surfaced that Cecilia and Nic got secretly married in the Phillippines, I believe Nic’s mom, Deborah Dik did not react favorably because she considered Cecilila’s background too complicated (due to her dad’s triad connections). After Deborah got to know Cecilia better, she gushed how good a daughter-in-law Cecilia was. It appears that Cecilia spends a lot of time with Deborah and seems to respect her and buy lots of gifts for her; they are often spotted shopping together.

Nic’s parents are pretty liberal in their thinking and since they worked in the industry as well, they understand temptation and having a sexual past does not entirely define the person you are today.

I like how Cecilia and the Tse family live their lives and seem united.

  2. They are celebrities, but they are also normal people too. 9/10 men do not like to shop and would just prefer to sit around and wait or drop their spouse/girlfriends off to pick them up later. And usually they will wear whatever their woman gets for them. Nic is one of them. They are very loving and do not seem shy at all in showing their affection in front of reporters. I’m sure they will feel more relieved that way rather than needing to hide from reporters when they go out.

  3. Their sons are so adorable!!! Sorry but I have to say that my bf loves to shop with me and sometimes buys clothes for me. I guess it depends on different people. At first my bf would be standing outside the stores like the majority of guys. Hey check out girls with him and tell him that he can check out hot girls at the mall. Then he’ll def go with you until he gets used to it. It sure works!!!

  4. I didn’t care for either Nic of Cecilia individually as actors, but I like them very much as celebrity parents. I don’t know why. Like everyone else, I thought they way the handled the scandals and press or whatever in very mature and mutually supportive way.

Their family is so beautiful together. <3

  5. Nic Tse has totally moved for the better since he became a husband and a father. I like him and his acting now has entered a great level for him to be nominated among big shots of HK cinema. I also like how he has moved forward from emo-boys roles and now has taken heavier and more mature roles in his movies. He has developed good eyes for better roles now and I can see him shining.

    I’m happy for Nic 😀
