Godfrey Gao Feels like a Midget Next to Yao Ming

Retired NBA player, Yao Ming (姚明), visited Macau on May 1 with the Shanghai Sharks to participate in the All-Star Challenge for basketball at The Venetian Macao Resort. The 7-feet-6 basketball superstar brought along Taiwanese artists Godfrey Gao (高以翔), Alien Huang (黃鴻升), Hong Kong star Alex Fong Lik San (方力申), and other regional stars to form a “Macau All-Star Team” to play against the Shanghai Sharks.

Standing at 6 feet 4, Godfrey is well-known in the Taiwanese media for his tall height, and the model-turned-actor once expressed his worries for being too tall and big for his costars. But Godfrey immediately shrunk in size standing next to Yao Ming.

Amused at the height difference, the Taiwanese-Canadian actor uploaded a photo of him sitting next to Yao Ming on his Weibo, writing, “Thank you, brother Yao Ming for inviting me to the challenge! I’ve become dainty and helpless [next to him]!”

The post attracted over 900 comments and nearly 700 reblogs. A netizen said, “Never thought Godfrey could appear short!” Another said, “You look small beside him… he’s huge! Missed the game due to work today. Come to Macau again soon!” Another commented, “So, this day has come! Godfrey has become a midget!”

Godfrey is currently working on the post-production work for the mainland Chinese film, Remembering Lichuan <遇见王沥川>, which also stars Jiao Junyan (焦俊艳). Godfrey also stars as Magnus Bane in the upcoming Hollywood film The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, which is slated to be released in theaters on August 23, 2013.
