Jet Li Attends Daughter’s Graduation at Columbia University

Jet Li (李連杰), 62, has rarely appeared in the public eye in recent years, focusing instead on his family and philanthropy. Jet has two daughters each with his ex-wife Huang Qiuyan (黃秋燕) and his current wife Nina Li (利智). All four daughters have now graduated from university. His second daughter, Taimi Li (李苔蜜), is an ophthalmologist, and his third daughter, Jane, already graduated from Harvard University. In May, Jet flew to New York to attend his daughter Jada’s graduation ceremony from Columbia University.
Posting a photo with Jane and Jada, Jet congratulated his younger daughter, “All four of our daughters have now graduated from university! This is a highlight in my life, please allow me to show off a little!” In the photo, his daughters are graceful and elegant, resembling their mother Nina. Jet mentioned his daughter worked hard for over a decade and can now freely pursue her dreams. He also joked deprecatingly on his own education level. “As for me, I’m at the bottom of our family. I don’t even have a primary school diploma.”
Jet previously shared Jada was diagnosed with depression at the age of 7 and the condition worsened by the time she was 13. At that point, Jada was in such a dark place that she often felt like giving up on life. She frequently questioned, “You adults have already arranged everything for me. You want me to learn this and that, but have you ever asked me? What’s the meaning of my life?” Jet admitted that at the time he had been so focused on his charity, One Foundation, that he had neglected his daughter. He felt guilty and anxious, unsure of how to help Jada and worried that she might harm herself. Eventually, Jada wanted to study Tibetan Buddhism, so Jet joined her in a three-month course on Tibetan Buddhism and tried to learn to be her friend and classmate. With the help of religion, Jada’s condition gradually improved.
