Kai Ko Will Go into Drug Rehab
Kai Ko (柯震東) admitted that he has taken drugs eight times in the past two years and will enter drug rehabilitation in a hospital at his own expense.
The 23-year-old Taiwanese actor was arrested in Beijing on August 14 and was detained in a facility for 15 days. On August 29, the day of his release, Kai held a press conference in Beijing to apologize for his wrongdoings and express his regret. He held a second one in Taiwan on September 1, and was accompanied by his parents and manager.
After returning to Taipei, Kai, his parents, lawyer, and staff immediately reported to the Taipei’s prosecutors office to aid in the drug investigation. Over 30 policemen were deployed to maintain order. Surrounded by reporters, Kai looked scared and stiff. He did not respond to any media questions.
The court hearing lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes. Kai was asked to provide his hair and urine samples. When he left the office, he was hounded by over a hundred reporters. Some followed him home. While trying to interview Kai, a reporter tripped and fell on the ground. Kai went over to help him, but stayed mute and did not answer any questions. Kai’s parents also remained silent.
According to official reports, Kai has admitted to have taken drugs eight times in the past two years. He said he first used marijuana at Jaycee Chan’s (房祖名) home in Beijing. All the drugs he has used were provided by Jaycee. Kai has applied for deferred prosecution and go into drug rehabilitation.
