Kevin Cheng and Myolie Wu’s “Ghetto Justice” Premieres at 30 Points

Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎)and  Myolie Wu’s (胡杏兒) new TVB series, Ghetto Justice <怒火街頭>aired on Monday, May 30th with premiere ratings of 30 points. Kevin’s butt-revealing scene deserved undeniable credit. Myolie joked that if the ratings were ideal, she will request Kevin to reveal more. Kevin indicated that he will consider the matter carefully.

Last night, Kevin and Myolie had dinner with Ghetto Justice cast members, Sam Lee (李璨琛), Sharon Chan (陳敏之), Jazz Lam (林子善), and production crew members. The group had dinner in Sham Shui Po while watched an episode of the series together. Since Kevin and Myolie both had to work on Monday night, they were unable to watch the premiere broadcast together. Realizing the initial episode garnered ratings of 30 points, the group treated the gathering as a mini-celebration.

Myolie Revealed Upcoming Passionate Kiss Scene

With a mischievous smile, Myolie said, “We have to thank Kevin for revealing his male career line (butt crease). [Photos were uploaded] on blogs to attract ratings, taking advantage of his ‘quality stock.’” (Are there additional revealing scenes?) “Sharon will reveal her long legs.” (What about yourself?) “I will showcase my articulation skills. Actually, I have a passionate kissing scene with Kevin.” (How will you celebrate if there are high ratings?) “I will ask Kevin to reveal more of himself. I don’t think he will mind. Women have revealed their ‘career lines’ too often!”

Jayne: Ghetto Justice sounds like such a strong and literal translation of the Chinese title. I’ll give the series a try; eager to see a different side of Myolie apart from her recent comedy series.

  1. I watched the first episode yesterday, and finishing the second today…. This series is really good. You can see a different side of every actress/actor in this show so far :3 I recommend it.

The only thing i dislike is the themesong, but i guess it fits the title “Ghetto” haha.

    1. yeah agree i really enjoy this series and the themesong is the only thing i dislike as well. people are maybe feed up watching rubbish acting in the other timeslot.

      1. I LOVE THE THEME SONG!!! IT’S SO LIVELY AND CUTE!!!

  2. I saw the preview and 1st episode and was for the first time and for a long time, very intrigued. The 1st episode was rather good. The cases were down to earth and I suppose this series will feature the “ghetto” side of HK, prostitutes and all although frankly not really THAT ghetto. Kevin Cheng still suck in his body language but he will do well if he is not required to be angry. I am excited about Myolie again, she plays this very prejudiced lawyer and she looks great. Jazz Lam for once is not the uneducated rough big brother with temper issue so that’s nice. Sam lee was ok too and Eddie Kwan is too old for the buddy-bachelor-cop role but he looks really good.

Definitely give this series a try!

Anyway is it me or has Myolie done something to her nose? I read rumours of her chin, but that could be loss of baby fat, BUT her nose seems so much sharper, higher than ever before. I think if she did anything, her nose would be it. Or could it be make up?

    1. I did see her “new” chin and nose in a recent photo… it seems too quick for her to lose the chin in a matter of months, it’s not only shaper, but longer too and her nose does look sharper. She looks much prettier.. and love her new hair cut.

    2. I think it is just make-up and the way her hair is. I know that Myolie looks alot better in short hair, cuz with her long hair, it makes her face look fat. Anyways, Myolie is very pretty in this series. Loving her shorthair cuts in these series. She should keep it like this.

  3. This is actually is good series, I was watching the first episode yesterday, and it was nice and gives kinda of a light hearted side to obeing a lawyer, cause in other dramas they are always harsh and serious. But Kevin Cheng displays a different kind of lawyer, I think this lawyer series will be better than The Truth.

  4. I look forward to this series as well. I am glad that the artists are taking on different roles and will give a refreshing feeling to the audience. 30 points for day 1 is great and with good response, I think the ratings will keep rising! Myolie has some good roles this year!

  5. this serie is way better than flower what’s her face.

  6. congrat to ghetto justice series, maybe this series can break record.

  7. I enjoy Kevin Cheng’s performances in all of his TVB work. I think he should win the best actor award in 2008 for Last One Standing, his acting was so much better than Ha Ye, who was the winner for Moonlight Resonance. Hope Kevin Cheng gets recongnize for his acting as I find he’s a little under-appreciated for his talent.

    1. Many artists are underrated for their talent while many are also overrated as well. As we all know, artists are not just judged based on talent alone since much more is needed to survive in todays circle. I remember reading Fann Wong’s biography where she talked about the difficulties of being in the circle. She mentioned that it was much more than just looking good and acting well… Life in the circle is so hard…

    2. @le, Kevin already won Best Actor in 2006 for his performance in Under the Canopy of Love, which was underserved, IMO. The top finalists for Best Actor that year was much better than him.

Agreed that Kevin did shine more in Last One Standing than in his other roles, but I would only attribute half of the credit to him. The other half goes to the scriptwriters.

      1. Who said that awards always showed how good an artist’s acting is??

      2. @HTS, I never said it did. And it doesn’t. 🙂

  8. I heard that TVB likes to give unique English titles for their series and don’t always want to translate it literally. However, they do at times… I actually like the English titles for most of their series.

  9. Me too, I thought Kevin done an outstanding job in “Last Man Standing”. Ha Ye done a good job in Moonlight Resonnance but not as good as Kevin.

    1. I found Moonlight Resonance totally over-rated. I can’t understand why it was so popular and the actor & actress got awarded.

      1. Aren’t many series and actors/actresses always overrated in some people’s eyes??? No series can be liked by everyone regardless of how popular and classic it is. Even a very classic series like Legend of the Condor Heroes 83 was not liked by some viewers.

      2. Depends on taste. I also dun like MR that much but with its high rating, seem that the series met the demand of a lot of ppl. That’s why it had awards.

  10. Ghetto Justice looks promising, I am looking forward to watch this serie after watching the preview.

  11. I watched 4 episodes of this series… and I’m currently addicted. Can’t wait to see what happens next. What happened to L.A. Law?

Myolie is so cute and pretty in here. Loving her hairstyle. She is an articulate lawyer. And boy, I wish I had those long legs. *Jealous. She looks amazing in her lawyer suits. 😀

  12. I like how Mandy Wong is like Myolie’s mentee now. In “A Chip off the old block”, she was Myolie’s younger sister” and now in “Ghetto Justice” she’s Myolie’s assistant. I hope this means she’ll be promoted as a next generation fa dan after Myolie’s generation.

    1. yes, there is def. something likable about Mandy Wong… she’s very natural in her acting, though the the prettiest of potential fadans.

  13. Myolie Wu is my FAVORITE ACTRESS. She is perfect for TVB roles and I’ve always liked her since her Ms. Hong Kong days!

  14. I like myolie as well, though she needs to work on her expressions (very comedic @ times even when it’s a serious moment) and sometimes exaggerated acting… I thought she was most natural when she first started… such as in golden faith and the awakening story, not as polished, but very natural.

  15. This series is so much better then “My Sister Of Eternal Flower”… I hope the ratings doesnt affect it.

  16. This is the first time i’m buying Kevin Cheng’s acting in a lead role. His much better being a cocky self-absorbed confident weasel than a fireman or … a constipated lover. I suppose its because his most at home in this character 😛

    1. I totally agree with u. Kevin Cheng has finally found role so suitable for him. Well done!!

  17. I too agree whole heartedly that the above role suits Kevin to a tee. He has performed remarkable and delightfully well this time and in his previous role as ‘Summer’, the photographer. However, a good actor should be versatile. You may not agree but I do find him quite that in his other roles for which he has been severely criticized. Sometimes a little ‘underacting’ is better than the gushy type. Just a look or a nod or smile will suffice. Anyway, good for you this time, Kevin, and hope that it will continue to be so from now on.
