Miriam Yeung Hospitalized; Halts All Work

Miriam Yeung (楊千嬅) has been hospitalized for a flu-related complications in the last few days. Miriam made her music comeback after a three-year hiatus last summer, and successfully finished the Hong Kong stops for her Let’s Begin 2015 World Tour earlier this year.

Last week, Miriam shared on Weibo a close-up photo of her hand, which was bandaged up from an IV needle. She announced that she has stopped all her work, writing, “I lost the battle in the end! My high fever isn’t going away, and I have to return to my “old place” [hospital]. The doctor suggested that I should stay for further observation. I’ve really injured myself this time. I have to cancel everything and patiently receive my treatment. I deeply apologize for having to postpone my work!” Nonetheless, Miriam remained positive and asked fans to not worry for her.

According to a source, Miriam has been experiencing respiratory distress and contracted the flu.  Her husband Real Ting (丁子高) also fell ill and was hospitalized, but recovered after receiving a day of treatment and rest.

After returning home, Real provided an update Miriam’s condition, “She went to the hospital two days ago after realizing that her fever didn’t go away. The doctor told us that if she arrived any later, it would have led to pneumonia. But her condition is improving vastly.”

Miriam was originally scheduled to film a movie and record her upcoming Cantonese album, which was slated to be released this summer. However, the projects have been indefinitely postponed due to her hospitalization.
