Patricia Ha Burned by Young Lover Who Cheated Her Money

Making a comeback in TVB drama Daddy Cool <逆緣>, 52-year-old Patricia Ha (夏文汐) portrays a character who starts a relationship with Lai Lok Yi (黎諾懿), who is 15 years her junior. In real life, Patricia also has a preference for younger men despite being cheated of her money a few years ago.

Marrying wealthy Taiwanese businessman Huang Guanbo (黃冠博) and immigrating to the United States in the late 1980s, Patricia retired from the film industry and opted for a life as a stay-at-home mother. After giving birth and raising three daughters, Patricia and Huang Guanbo’s marriage fell apart and unofficially separated for several years.

Leaving her life in the United States behind, Patricia moved to Shanghai by herself and entered the workforce again in 2009. Patricia was often seen at night clubs where she was surrounded by much younger men. Although popular with the men, Patricia was unfortunately the victim of a cheater who conned her money and love in 2010. When it was uncovered that the man was a local Shanghai DJ named Li Shen (李森), Patricia admitted that she had dated him for two years.

Even though she was tricked by Li Shen, Patricia did not lose faith in younger men. Recently, she started seeing another mystery man, nicknamed “Strawberry”. Many keen-eyed netizens saw that “Srawberry” resembled her old boyfriend. Following each other on Weibo, the two often send sweet messages, declaring their love for each other.

Admitting that she is often approached by younger men, Patricia said, “Sometimes when I’m having dinner or drinks with friends, a man would suddenly come up to me and offer to buy me a drink. Perhaps, the trend of an older woman-younger man relationship is catching on in China and perhaps they are interested in women who are more mature.”

  1. Orrrr they want you for yo money.

But Pat Ha is still a hot lady, so I’m sure that holds some appeal as well

    1. @coralie She has some appeal yes but she’s like my mom’s age. If my mom’s dating a guy that’s my boyfriend’s age, I am sorry I can’t. haha LOL…. Call me old fashioned but I doubt I will feel happy about it. haha The 2 guys above? Are they even 20’s yo? :0/ I wonder how old her 3 daughters are and if she had them young in her 20’s, they can be their daughter’s b/f’s age too. haha OH Lord!!!

  2. this lady sounds like young men magnet, lucky for her. who doesn’t like to date someone younger?! it’s the different between reality and desire.

  3. Interesting how it’s accepted when older women date younger men but condemned when older men date younger women.

    The double standard….

    1. @anon which planet you from??? It is more frowned upon when older women date younger men, than when older men date younger women, and that is a worldwide trait. It is worse in Asia though. A lot of men, even celebs, in Asian countries refuse to date older women because of the stigma and ridicule attached to them dating older women.

Well said and that was what my parents said. People are more accepting when a younger women is with an older man but do not like it when a younger man is with an older woman. They say one of the reasons is because women age faster than men which is true. I personally prefer older men but if they must be younger not by too much. I find it sad that older men and women go after guys and girls who are soooo much younger. In many cases, it is not because of love but for money and other motives. Sad but true as we never know in life if we shall widow or divorce and then end up getting lonely and then sadly get desperate. You never know the future…

I was basing it on from past responses here, genius.

Typically if a similar article was posted about an older man dating a younger woman, most of the responses here would be calling for the guy’s head.

At the time of my original post, nobody was calling her names.

        That was my point!

      3. @anon I already know I am a genius, but thank you. Well, my point also is proven and thanks to @hetieshou for such a wonderful comment as well. There is a reason why you don’t see many comments here about older women dating younger men. It is frowned upon more than older men dating younger women, especially in Asian countries. I rest my genius case, lol.

  4. I’m a girl and I have to admit Patricia Ha is still look good at her age. Hopefully, she will be more careful in dating younger guys but there are still nice men out there. For example, Catherine Hung’s husband.

  5. Had no idea who she is or have not heard of her before. She better becareful this time and thought she had learned her lesson how the younger guys used her for money only and she still wants a younger guy? Or maybe she’s into a younger guys only? Good luck ma’am.

    1. @cutie777 I know…Awwww… Perhaps she married young and to an older dude? I don’t know her either but I am watching that time travel series right now and I remember her face. She looks ok but honestly I thought she was older than 52 I mean she still looks good but you can tell she’s not young. She should go to Korea, I think the older sis/young brother relationships are more trendy there apart from the one in HK Nic Tse/Faye Wong. haha

      1. @wm2017 Lol. I guess so. You know the picture above it reminds me of Elizabeth Lee Mei Fung a little bit if you know who I’m talking about.

      2. @cutie777
Ohh yeah, I just goggled 🙂 My mom’s favorite haha…she still looks hot for her age for sure as she already popped out kids and they are like in their 20’s now.

      3. @cutie777
Yea, she kind of also has another favorite but I think she died or something. I don’t remember her exact name but her husband is also an actor who is always a supporting actor. I think his name is Kwok Fung? She was also one of her favorites. hehe 😀

      4. @wm2017 when you mentioned about the actress had died I thought you meant Barbara Yung. I don’t really know her much but I do know Kwok Fung more because he’s in lots of drama but lately he’s not been in any maybe he needs to take a long break after his wife passed away sad. I have to say he’s a good actor too.

      5. @wm2017
You are referring to Susanna Au Yeung. She played the older Wong Yung while Barbara played the young Wong Yung. So sad that they both left everyone already.

  6. Older woman with younger guy invites more ridicule than the other way around. Thus not surprising that people shy away from such relationships. Older woman should always be wary if a younger attractive guy suddenly shows interest in her, might be just eyeing her money.

  7. Which movies or series was she in before? I do not remember her at all. I actually find it a bit sad that she does not find someone her age but has to find someone so much younger just to get cheated like that. I guess some just cannot bare to be alone.

    1. @hetieshou Pat Ha was a movie actress back in the 1980s. She was never in TV series back then (at least not in HK — aside from RTHK series, which technically don’t count) — last year is the first time she filmed TV series in HK (she filmed Daddy Cool for TVB and the Margaret and David sequel EX for ViuTV, in which she reunited with one of her former acting partners Anthony Wong). Pat’s claim to fame was in the movie Nomad (烈火青春) in 1982 (she starred opposite Leslie Cheung, Cecilia Ip, and Kent Tong) — she was only 17 years old at the time and that movie was her debut in the entertainment industry, yet it shot her to instant popularity, earning her a Best New Artist nomination at that year’s HKFA. She later filmed a boatload of movies, including a few category III movies (there’s one she filmed in the mid-80s opposite Alex Man that basically made her a household name at the time). She was invited to film movies and TV series in Taiwan in the mid-80s too and that’s where she met her husband Huang Guanbo, who was a wealthy businessman at the time.

It’s not surprising that many current audiences don’t remember her, since she retired from the industry back in 1989 after getting married and then emigrated to the U.S. shortly after.

I’m not sure how old her daughters are but based on the math — assuming she had her first daughter around the time she got married, then that daughter would be nearly 30 years old…her other daughters had to have been born not too many years apart, so probably in their 20s now. At 52 years old, Pat really isn’t that old, so if she’s dating men younger than her by 15 years (maybe even 20), that means the men are in their 30s — in some cases perhaps not much older than her daughters…not sure how her daughters would feel about this, though if they were raised in the U.S., most likely they will be more accepting of it…

      1. @llwy12
Thanks so much for the info! No wonder I do not know her at all. But I must say I find it very strange to date someone so much younger since they usually have a motive. Not to say that true love cannot exist when the age gap is so big but it is very rare. I hope her daughters are ok with it and you are right, if they are more westernized then they may more likely accepting.
