Ruco Chan Appears on Phoebe Sin’s “Cooking Beauties”

Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) will be making an appearance as a guest judge on TVB’s latest reality competition, Cooking Beauties <美女廚房>. Since girlfriend, Phoebe Sin (單文柔), is one of the trainees on the show, fans are looking forward to the couple’s appearance together.

When it was said that Owen Cheung (張振朗) had food poisoning after tasting food from and earlier episode and suffered for two weeks of pain, was Ruco worried? He said, “To be honest, I’m kind of going back and forth on this. I’m going to have to see if my stomach is able to take on the challenge that day. My health has been decent lately so i think I can handle it.”

However, despite being wary of the food he will be served during his episode, Ruco did compliment girlfriend, Phoebe Sin’s (單文柔) excellent culinary skills. Expressing that Phoebe actually knows how to make both Western and Asian food, Ruco applauded, “I don’t eat beef and I prefer to eat simple Chinese dishes. Phoebe and I usually talk about how we can make a dish better. We have a lot of fun in the process.”

Phoebe, who was also filming for Cooking Beauties, humbly said she is only good at quick broths. When it comes to actually boiling and making soup from scratch, she will need to hand the kitchen over to Ruco. Not wanting Phoebe to feel bad, Ruco quickly added, “Bringing them to a boil is even harder than making actual soup!”

Not surprised of the food poisoning. They will actually tasting raw poussin which is basically trying raw chicken. It’s shocking because that’s salmonella guaranteed…

I watched parts of different episodes. The main cooking ingredients are impossible to cook all the way through 100% within 30 mins. Experience cooks will chop those in smaller pieces then cook or immediately put in the oven. The first dishes seem very complicated, ie get meat in and then a sauce. So really, the show is set up for the tasters to eat undercooked food for the bad/neg responses and feedbacks. I don’t feel bad for the hosts getting sick. They need better, smarter and “easier” meat ingredient to cook.

The show is getting more and more enjoyable. The cooking participants and guest judges are funny. The 3 main hosts are also slowly getting into rhythm.

I actually prefer to watch the beauties that can cook more than those who can’t. Hope they can get at least one decent cook every episode.

Lastly, the fixed dish on the first round are too complicated. At least choose a dish that is achievable for the contestants. You can see some beauties that failed in the first round actually cook some delicious dish in the second round which is more freestyle.

I watch this episode. During Pheobe’s cooking time, Ruco kept giving instructions to Phoebe even for simple task (e.g. putting the prawns into the wok) like she doesn’t know how to cook at all.
Maybe it’s all an act for the show. His action does not reflect what he said in this article.
