Sammul Chan’s Note of Gratitude Towards TVB Was Cut

Sammul Chan Kin Fung and Myolie Wu Hang Yee appeared at a TVB Select promotional event for mainland series, Schemes of a Beauty <美人心計>. Despite a controversial interview in which Sammul spoke out against TVB, he indicated that the earth was round and hoped to have an opportunity to work with TVB again.

Last week, Sammul appeared in an I-Cable interview in which he complained about TVB’s poor compensation. In addition, TVB asked him to sign a 10-year contract, with miniscule increase in pay. At yesterday’s promotional event, Sammul noted that in his I-Cable interview, he also expressed gratitude towards TVB in addition to the salary complaints. However, that portion of the interview was cut from the broadcasted interview.

Sammul stated that he was interested in collaborating with TVB again. The main reason will not be the money, but rather the quality of the script and whether the role will be challenging.
Reporters mentioned that Joe Ma Tak Chung’s wife, Cheung Sau Lan, voiced her anger in TVB’s poor treatment of artists on her blog site. Sammul noted that he scanned the news very briefly and that each person’s situation was different. He did not ask Joe further about the details.

Jayne: The tide has turned at TVB, where artists are becoming more vocal in expressing their displeasure with the poor pay and long filming hours. Although only a small group of artists who did not sign management contracts with TVB are speaking up, but their points are heard loud and clear. Is new TVB boss, Charles Chan listening?

Sammul Chan- A Fan of Gui Lunmei

Although Sammul Chan Kin Fung has acted as a Master of Ceremonies on numerous occasions throughout his career, it should not be a great source of pressure for him to host an event. Several days ago, Sammul acted as the MC for an event celebrating women’s success in Shanghai. Since the presentation was entirely in Mandarin and English, which were not Sammul’s native languages, he was very nervous. Fortunately, he maintained a fine standard. Hosting solely in Mandarin and English, this was a major breakthrough for Sammul.

Responses

  1. Charles Chan can raise the pay or get new ones. And with so many so desperate for a piece of fame, my guess is he isn’t too bothered since one leaves and thousands are lining up. The only way this will change is if the employment law protecting artistes will change and the artiste in question can sue TVB. And that seems unlikely as well since TVB would have their armies of lawyers and lobbyist against that change.

So basically TVB will be like take it or leave attitude.

And poor Sammul, even iCable won’t give him a break. Maybe he should stop complaining and just go somewhere else for greener pastures?

    1. @Funn

I’ve never heard of a country with laws protecting actor wages. Largely because they are so prone to fluctuate according to popularity etc. Its not a TVB lobbying issue, its just its technically impossible to legislate and regulate.

Sammul has filmed a lot in mainland in the past few years. Its obvious he was a forward thinker from the get-go.

      1. That’s because in Asia we don’t have like those unions in America or as powerful as them. I believe there are unions in America or western countries protecting perhaps those in the industry’s wages. HK doesn’t have that. It is possible; after all we are talking about those secondary actors, not like Charmaine Sheh type.

      2. I feel sorry for Sammul. He has received recognition and highly valuable in mainland. He’s just frustrated by TVB demoting him in Relic’s poster besides trying to give him an underpaid contract when he tried to sign a contract with them.

He just wants to be treated worthy to his position. In mainland I heard he’s already famous and filmed many series with high salary.

      3. @ Vivien: You can refer to my post below. Don’t overestimate Sammul too much. Actually he is still small in China.

  2. Now I read this and I can confirm to myself that all is a promotion tactic.

TVB’s poster to 美人心計 is so overboard. It makes Sammul like the center of the series. Plus Myolie. Myolie only appeared in about 5 eps. Yang Mi – one of the real lead, on the other hands, is too small like can’t be seen. Ruby, the true center of the series is just in one side and might smaller than Myolie. Wat’s the heck? Where are the true leading roles of the series? At least, put Ruby in the center.

    1. Everywhere the posters are like this. They put who is more well-known/popular in that area bigger in the posters. Myolie and Sammul being from TVB and are hongkers are likely more well-known and popular than Ruby and Ya Ming (not talking about internationally, just within HK and among TVB viewers).

In the 70s, the Green Hornet is market as ‘The Kato Show’ in Chinese region because Bruce Lee was more popular than the lead in those area.

Zhou Xun appear in the cover of DVDs in China instead of Zhang Ziyi who was supposed to be more lead than Zhou Xun in the movie.

Anyway, Sammul still the male lead of the series. So, putting him in center not too much lah. 😛 Ruby’s picture also very big what.

      1. Yang Mi, not Ya Ming :P.

I still think should put Ruby in the center. The whole series is involving around her.

If like you said, Sammul shouldn’t get mad because of Relic’s poster. They want to put who are more well-known and popular.

I feel for Sun Fei Fei anyway.

BTW, I prefer Liu Cheung over Liu Hang in this one, haha.

    2. In this series although Myolie only appears for a few episodes her character is much better than her TVB characters and so is her appearance. Her storyline with FSF is one of the series best storyline. It’s a sweet love story.

This series is a lot of times better than TVB ancient series now. Yu Zheng put a lot of thoughts into this series.

      1. I dun complain about Myolie’s character. I’m saying about the position in the poster.

I give the credit to the author of the novel more than Yu Zheng. This one based on a novel, so the quality of the storyline must give some credit to the authour of this novel.

I personally think Yu Zheng is kinda failed in Gong. Although I like HSM-Yang Mi – FSF but their characters in Gong lack the depth. Ching Xuen is somehow very annoying. But Yang Mi is such a pretty girl.

  3. Artistes complaining about TVB is normal, but what Sammul said about his female co-stars are uncalled for and unnecessary.

It’s funny how Natalie Tong got the Next Magazine Top 10 award right after Sammul’s complaint about her female co-stars status. Oh the irony.

    1. What did he say about his female co-stars?
I think he needs to just move on. I’m glad he’s speaking up, but he needs to be able to leave a place for himself in case he ever wanted to collaborate with TVB again in the future.

    2. Sammul only wants to show that TVB’s treatment got worse towards him in these recent years by showing how his female partners started from Charmaine,Kenix but later went down to Myolie and the latest down to only Selena Li and Natalie Tong.

It’s a bit hurt to the ladies but his intention is just to bash TVB not the females. He’s not targeting the ladies.

      1. I guess he feels he is high because he acts with Ruby Lin. Lol, guess that he thinks Ruby is higher than Myolie, Bernice, Selena or Natalie. Refer to Kidd said in the above comment, to HKer Myolie is bigger than Ruby.

      2. @ Vivien

It doesn’t matter what his intention is. Giving such an example shows what he think of the ladies.

If you are Selena or Natalie and heard him said that, how would you feel?

      3. To HKer maybe, but to the rest of the chinese speaking world, Ruby only needs to drop Huan Zhu Ge Ge in her resume and that’s it. Mind you HZGG was a bigger hit than all of Myolie’s series put together. And I believe Ruby is well known in HK? Maybe not now, fame fades sometimes but she’s still around although now as famous as she was. But in her heyday, she was uber famous.

      4. Ruby’s fame is of course less than Vicky or Fan Bing Bing now, but can’t say she is not famous in China nor HK.

I mean Kidd thinks to HKer Myolie is bigger than Ruby, so it’s quite ironic of Sammul to think Ruby higher than his peers in TVB (ie Myolie).

      5. Sorry but Ruby isn’t that great at all. Her acting is only average and after all of these years, her acting is still the same old. I am shocked that she is still playing leading roles after all these years…

      6. @HeTieShou

Its funny, i thin Ruby looks better than average, but not in ancient wear but she nearly always does ancient series.

I agree her acting seems to be the same. But i havent watched anything fully from her recently so i can’t say much more. For some reason i keep hearing the media trumpet how great her acting is…

      7. @SDS,
I wasn’t just referring to her looks, but her looks to me is that great either. I think she looks better in modern than ancient too. I think one of the reasons is that she has way too much make up on when in ancient wear. I remember seeing her in Feng Shen Bang 2 and she had so much make up on that it was ridiculous.

There are many people that are talented but don’t get recognized, while there are others who are not that great at acting(Ruby is a good example) but get all of the praise and opportunities… I guess that is where exposure, timing and luck come in instead of talent.

      8. I think Ruby was only popular because of Huan Zhu Ge Ge. If she did not have that series on her resume, she honestly does not have anything else on her list that is worth praising. I thought that series was overrated and her acting was too. If another actress played that role, they would have garnered the fame that she did…If it weren’t for Huan Zhu Ge Ge, I question where Ruby would be right now?

      9. If you ask this, then maybe you should ask for where Vicky Zhao and Fan Bing Bing would be now (without HZGG).

I’m not a fan of Ruby and I think her acting is so-so but her efforts with some series can’t be denied. Beauty Scheme is the series to save Ruby’s name.

      10. @Fox,
Yea, I also ask where Fan Bing Bing and Vicki would be due to HZGG as well. I am not only bias against Ruby so not only aiming at her. However, I feel that since then Fan Bing Bing has proved herself and Vicki has as well as we can see from all of her performances in movies and all. However, Ruby to me still has not really showed her talent. BUt then again, success these days is not based on talent sadly…

I saw Beauty Scheme and must say that her acting to me is still not much better. But that is just my opinion. Hey, but this is not the first time she or anyone has been over praised for their acting in a certain role so I should not be shocked.

  4. I saw his interview and feel he is too full of himself.

I doubt TVB will collaborate with him again after he bashes them in this manner.

    1. I doubt he cares all that much about TVB. Its not like they treated him well besides giving him a role or two which TVB had much to gain as well.

I think any celebrity full of themself against TVB is a good thing. Can’t be put down by such a tyrant of a company.

    2. He bashes TVB because TVB doesn’t give him leading roles.

TVB promises him a leading role in Relic of Emissary but in the end he was put to the back in the poster, and only Joe Ma and Michael Tse in the middle.

He did think of getting contracted with TVB but TVB offers him a low and frozen salary for a 10 years contract. Sammul was frustrated by this because he’s already a huge star in mainland and should be valued higher.

      1. Don’t estimate him that high in mainland. His status in mainland is even lower than Feng Shao Feng or Hawick Lau or He Sheng Ming or Wen Cheung at this moment. If he is in status like Hu Ge or Deng Chao or Huang Xiao Ming then might start to call him “big star”. When he reaches to Sun Hung Lui’s place, it’s time to call him huge star.

I’m talking about series only, not movie yet.

Wu Zheng’s real “kids” are Feng Shao Feng and He Sheng Ming. Sammul is far to get the same favour from Wu Zheng like these 2. Especially He Sheng Ming, he is Wu Zheng’s favourite kid. Moreover, Sammul is HKer while FSF and HSM are Chinese.

      2. @ Fox

Are you talking about Yu Zheng or another director? If you are talking about Yu Zheng, it’s ironic that Sammul get to play the lead in ‘Beauty Scheme’ instead of Feng Shao Feng is FSH is more favoured.
(It doesn’t matter that you like Liu Zhang better. Liu Heng is the male lead).

Vivien overestimated Sammul’s popularity in China, but, couldn’t you be underestimating him as well?

      3. Nope, not about ‘Beauty Scheme’, I’m talking about now.

After Gong (Palace), FSF and HSM are high loved by Yu Zheng. Their status are not different to ‘Beauty Scheme’’s time. FSF is now one of fastest rising star in China. He is casted in many grand series. HSM on the other hand, also trying to develop his singing career.

If you follow Yu Zheng you will see how he favours FSF and HSM.

      4. You must see how Yang Mi and FSF get exposed after Gong to know why I estimate Sammul’s status in China that low.

      5. What I mean is compare to other TVB siu sang Sammul is the most famous in mainland and only losing to Raymond. Raymond is no question about his popularity since he’s most popular now.

Hawick went to mainland before Sammul did so it make sense that he got famous first.

      6. I wonder why you forgot Ron in mainland series? His fee in mainland series is 80k, not low at all.

If talk about TVB siu sangs in mainland series, then Roger, Bobby, Gallen, Benny etc.

Joe Ma in mainland is not bad at all. He is paid 60k/eps for Ad Mania. It can be considered as high.

Sammul might (I say might) has more fame in mainland than HK but to say he is a huge star in mainland, he is not.

      7. Ron is famous too in mainland but I think slightly below Sammul.

Joe, Bowie are seniors and have been acting for much longer.

      8. Since so many thoughts I think the best to answer about who’s more well known in mainland should be someone from there.

      9. Have to base on the fee because it’s the best tool to know how much the media company value this artist.

    3. Well many other artists have had big problems with TVB in the past, but they always end up working with TVB again. I guess that is one of the best things about TVB, they always welcome previous artists back even if they had problems with them in the past.

      1. Except for Amy Chan. TVB blacklist Amy Chan for good. I heard that Amy Chan want to go back to TVB after ATV went downhill, but, TVB refuse.

      2. What happened with Amy Chan and TVB? Was it that bad that they blacklisted her for good? I have never heard of that… THat is sad since Amy is really talented. However, I guess if she has established a good foundation and everything then she just film for China and other companies and doesn’t need to film for TVB.

      3. @ HTS

Not sure what exactly happen behind the door. But, it was because Amy Chan got really popular after starring in ‘Fate of a Clairvoyant’ in TVB. No long after, she jump to ATV to star in ‘The Good Old Days’ and that series snatch a lot of ratings from TVB. But the strange thing is, only Amy Chan was blacklisted. Other ex-TVB who starred in TGOD was able to come back to TVB, only Amy cannot. So, I think there must be more to it than what we see. Maybe Amy did/said something that completely burnt the bridges between her and TVB.

      4. @Kidd,
THanks a lot for the info! I guess there is more than what we see and of course only they would know. I don’t think they would reveal things like that to the public. I think you are right, maybe Amy did say something really bad that completely severed her ties with TVB for good.

      5. This is the first I heard Amy Chan is blacklisted. She said so or rife rumours?

      6. @ Funn

I heard about it at that time (TGOD time) and also later when ATV was a mess, I also heard that Amy want to go back but TVB rejected her. I tried to google related articles but couldn’t find any. The only think I can find is someone if HKforum said so.

        10幾年前開始曾勵珍已經將陳秀雯例入~無記永不錄用藝人黑名單﹐
        另一個是劉美娟(劉美娟在電臺曾經爆過曾呢個封殺密令)﹐

She said 10 years ago, Amy Chan was blacklisted by Catherine Tsang in the ‘Artists TVB will never use’. Another actress being blacklisted in Lau Mei Kuen. The actress has talk about this blacklist in a radio show before.

      7. TVB is desperate.

How old is Amy? She looks good from the blurry picture at the forum.

      8. @ Funn

She still looks good in ‘Life In San Yuan County’.

According to dramawiki, she’s born in 1962. So, she’s 49 now. ‘Life In San Yuan County’ was aired in 2009. So, she’s 47 at that time.

      9. @Kidd,
Thanks for the info and am glad to hear that Amy is back with TVB. I guess there aren’t any artists that are blacklisted forever with TVB. Amy is really talented so it would be a big loss to TVB to blacklist her forever.

    ^Drama’s baidu
    http://ent.sina.com.cn/f/v/mrxjvote/
    ^Drama’s website

I think Weibo is a pretty good indicator to measure popularity. Feng Shao Feng’s followers were still in the hundred thousands before Jade Palace Lock Heart’s popularity. After the drama’s major popularity, Feng Shao’s popularity soared and now he has over 2 million fans on weibo.

Official posters of “Beauty Scheme” in the mainland:

    http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/1374/daa2d109bf3ac0b7d3581b7.jpg
AS you can see, there’s no big difference. Myolie is positioned behind Ruby Lin in these posters too despite only guest starring in a few episodes. Yan Kuan is the same. He was only in the first few episodes and then killed by Wang Li Kun’s character.

    1. Yes, FSF’s career soared after Gong.

Among the cast of Beauty Scheme now, Sammul Chan’s weibo has less followers than FSF, Yang Mi, Myolie now. I don’t track Ruby, Sun Fei Fei’s so I don’t know.

      1. Tq for the weibo.

Fei Fei now have 136464 followers.

      2. I feel bad for Sun Fei Fei. She is really beautiful and talented, but I guess she is still not that known yet.She was supposed to play Xiao Long Nu in ROCH 2006, but they gave the role to Liu Yi Fei back then. I bet if Sun Fei Fei played that role she would be more famous now.

      3. Maybe if Bu Bu Xing Er can make big like Gong, Fei Fei will be like Yang Mi.

I like both of Fei Fei and Mi Mi because they are beautiful :P.

      4. @ Fox
I hope ‘Bu Bu Xing Er’ made it big too because the company who produced ‘Bu Bu Xing Er’ actually paid copyright to the author unlike Yu Zheng. I remember there’s news of ‘Bu Bu Xing Er’ producer and author want to sue Yu Zheng because he copied from the novel.

      5. It’s Bu bu jing xin, I rmb the name wrongly, sorry.

Well, I might be harsh but actually the kind of online “travel through space” novel is everywhere now and I personally think most of them are bad written.

      6. I like Yang Mi and Sun Fei Fei too, but it is more than just their looks. I feel that they are fine actresses and have a lot potential to become really famous if given more suitable roles with time.

    2. Fox, I don’t follow mainland series that much but isn’t the lead of Bu Bu Xing Er “Liu Shi Shi”?

      1. Which series is Bu Bu Xing Er?? Is that “Startling By Each Step”?? If so, isn’t the Chinese title Bu Bu Jing Xin(步步驚心)?? If so, then yes Liu Shi Shi is the lead. I have seen her act quite a few times and she is a good actress and is really pretty as well..

  6. Just read a new article about 620 where she revealed that she rmb Sammul’s fee is more than 11k/eps. If it’s true, then I can’t see any reason for Sammul to complain. He is paid quite well by TVB (consider with other A-list contractual siu sangs’ fee: Ron: 20k/eps, Moses: 20k/eps, Bosco: 18k/eps, Kevin: 18k/eps). Joel 3C only received 1k/eps in the past and jumped to 8k/eps after he changes from kefele to supporting to second lead. To a non contractual artist, Sammul if is paid more than 11k/eps, his fee is not too low. Look at the girls in TVB, Shirley is paid 10k/eps only, Bernice 20k, Tavia 15k, they are even more pitiful.

  7. @Fox, I like your nickname for Ms. Lok. 🙂 Surprised by the published fees and why some artists seem to have premium rates.

If an artist such as Bosco decided to sign a 10 year contract, were the increase in wages built into original contract, thus bringing him to current $18k per episode? Or prior to the maturation of the original 10 year contract, he is allowed to renegotiate fees given satisfactory period review of his accomplishments.

Bernice making $20k per year versus Tavia’s $15k per year was a surprising figure. Tavia seems more ubiquitous in dramas. Perhaps Bernice negotiated higher fee due to her revenue-generating abilities with endorsements.

Moses’ fee the same as Ron? That’s also very surprising.

    1. Thank you Jayne but 620 is not mine so I can’t take it :P. 620 is how ppl call her in most of Chinese forum. Haha, some call her 610 as well.

Actually as I read, the fee will change while the basic salary in the contract won’t throughout its period. That means a TVB artist will receive basic salary each month and if he films/do functions for TVB, he’ll be paid. This fee is depends on the popularity of he/she.

I read an article where LF stated that each person in TVB will have exclusive contract. This person will negotiate with TVB for his/her own contract.

I rmb tat Bosco signed a 12 or 13 year one, not just 10. Somewhere said that LF is the only one among the 79 peers signed a 5 year contract with TVB, the rest (Ron, Bosco…) signed 8-15 year ones.

Moses’s function fee is higher than Ron a lot.

      1. I like the nicknames China forums gave to some artist.

        Raymond:
Yuk Shu (玉樹), Lam Gong Ji (林公子), Chok Wong (Chok王)

        Ron:
Cheung K (唱K), Ng Cheung K (唔唱K)

      2. Why don’t we do a list for these nicknames? It would be interesting.

      3. P/S: The HK reporters sometimes write nicknames in the articles. Such as “big eyes” is Kenneth. I have no clue why.

46 = Fala (the music note Do Re Mi Fa Son La), it’s cute.

      4. @ Fox

I don’t know a lot. Here’s the ones I know. Some are nicknames given by forumers, some are by reporters or people in the circle itself.

Ray – 玉樹, 林公子, Chok王, 亞太峯
        Ron – 唱K, 唔唱K
        Donnie Yen – 宇宙最強
        Koni – 長腳蟹
        Sammul – 三苗, 阿苗, 苗家教
        Kenneth – 馬明
        Wallace Chung – 娃娃

      5. I rmb some:

        47 Mui = Shirley
        47 Jie = Louise
        B2 = Bernice
        XX or ++ = Linda
        X2 = Myolie
Ah Co = Bosco (some ppl tease him as Bossyco)
Z3 = Kate (haha, some fans call her Shan Gor)
        3 Gor = Michael Miu

      6. There are some new nickname, such as Big Eyes to refer to Ma Ming and 46 = Fala. Haha, I like the name 46.

      7. I know one of Linda’s nickname is 包子(Bun). I’ve seen this used in baidu. But, I don’t understand why. The explanation given from the blog Chriselle post is that ‘Bun is Linda’s pose’. Uh, how did Linda’s pose look like a Bun? Confused.

        Another nickname.

Sheren Teng – Man Lui (雯女). It’s weird hearing Tavia called her that in her thank you speech when Tavia is so much younger.

      8. @ Kidd: Like the pose she did in the poster of Watchdog. It makes her cheek look like a Bun.

As for Sheren, it’s a homophony. Her name is Man => She is Man Lui. Just like Yuk Shu Lam Fung with Lam Fung is in front of/face the wind (not Lam = Tree, Fung = Peak like his real name).

      9. @ Fox

What is the chinese character for ‘Her name is Man’. I can’t think of familiar phrase for it.

      10. 鄧萃雯 = Tang Shui Man

She is a Man Lui (a man girl), to say about her strong personality. I mean she is Man this way.

      11. Kidd, from what I gathered the chinese-language netizens called Linda a bun because of her cheeks.

However I’m not too sure too haha.

      12. @ Fox

        “鄧萃雯 = Tang Shui Man
She is a Man Lui (a man girl), to say about her strong personality. I mean she is Man this way.”

Are you sure this is the reason and not just the simple habit of adding ‘女’ to a girl’s name?

They didn’t call her ‘man女’, they call her 雯女 which is very feminine sounding. Also, unlike Ray’s ‘yuk shu lam fung’, which is a real chinese phrase, there no ‘She is Man Lui’ chinese phrase that I know of. That’s why I ask.

I still didn’t see the homophony in Sheren’s case.

      13. I thought it’s her name Man plus an affectionate Lui meaning Little Man? Not Man as in English “man” but her Chinese name?

    2. Bernice is very famous in endorsement world. Along with Charmaine and Myolie, she is like Ads queen. She is also invited to a lot of function. That’s why her status in TVB is quite high.

    3. It doesn’t sound that smart of Bosco to sign a 10 year contract with only 18k per episode. We all know that TVB don’t give a raise. TVB artistes are paid so low and have to work their butt off in low condition no wonder so many going to mainland for better pay and more rest.

Surprising that Ron and Moses valued the same but I never take Moses acting highly. Only know that Moses gain a lot from endorsement just losing to Raymond.

      1. Actually as I read, the fee will change while the basic salary in the contract won’t throughout its period. That means a TVB artist will receive basic salary each month and if he films/do functions for TVB, he’ll be paid. This fee is depends on the popularity of he/she.

The basic salary each month is different to the filming fee.

I have just be informed by my friend that LF’s basic salary is 1200k/year during his 5 year contract, started from 2007. According to this info, TVB is not really as economic as ppl say. 1200k/year is quite good because his other works will give him more money.

      2. Maybe Moses gains more from endorsement than LF because he is the Ads king of TVB (Miriam is the Ads queen).

LF dun do many endorsement works. He only do the endorsement for Alicafe, E-Rave, Nugeno, Luk Fook and Ernest Borel. His fee is a bit high so not many companies invite him (about 100k/function and 7 figures for endorsement work in a year).

  8. I have more of a question on these salary numbers. I didn’t read all the comments, but from what I know, I’m pretty sure these TVB artists are making more than stated.

Moses is about the same as Raymond Lam, which is 34K per episode. This is until their contracts end at whichever year. And Raymond has more experience and started out as an actor before Ron Ng did, so his salary is more than Rons. I think Ron is the one making around 26k per episode, but both Ray’s and Ron’s contracts do not end until 2017.

And wasn’t there an article on Bowie Lam’s contract ending? His contract ends in 2011 and in that contract, he was making $50k per episode. I wonder if he decides to renew it, how much it’ll be.

    1. Oh, and I’m not sure if these are the exact figures, but it’s from an article I read a while back and these were some of the numbers I remembered. It does seem legit to me though. Especially since these are most likely terms just for episodes, not counting other things and events.

    2. Nope, LF himself said he signed a 5 year contract on 2007, which means his contract will be ended on 2012, not 2017. If in 2012 he signs another 5 year contract with TVB, 2017 will be the new expire time.

Ron and Bosco signed long time contract right after they started (around 1999-2000) and in 2007-2009, they renewed their contracts so it won’t ended until 2017 or 2018.

Ron and LF joined TVB at the same time. In 2009 they both received the medal for 10 year archivement.

The article you said is from Face Magazine and it’s not very accurate.

      1. Thanks for the clarification. I’m guessing what they said about some of the actresses were untrue also? Liza Wong was mentioned at 60k for filming per episode? Although I’m sure she gets a whole lot more from events and other things lol.

And I think that Ron and LF did join around the same time as you said, but LF joined for acting, while Ron started as a dancer. Do you know if contract terms are typically the same, like “TVB managed artist,” or would they differ from being a “TVB actor” or “TVB dancer.”
And I remember Ron saying that while he was a dancer, not only was it extremely hard work, but the schedule was hectic and the pay was low. This was one of the reasons why he switched from dancing to acting.

      2. Not totally accurate but might right in some parts. Actually all the tabloids is that. The real fee only they can know.

Ron switched to an actor in 2000. In 1999, LF also spent few months to do the job of a host for TVB8 before starting as an actor. So actually his acting career is started in the end of 1999, not very soon before Ron, maybe just nearly a year.

  9. Moses almost same as Raymond? I always thought Raymond would be a lot more since he is more famous and bankable than Moses?

TVB dancers are actually rather beautiful looking, sometimes I wonder why some never transition to acting.

  10. I’ve just read an article where Yu Zheng said that he would use at least one HKer in the crew for his series.

The directors of Gong and Beauty Scheme are former TVBer :P. TVB artists are invited to be in his series (Gong has Sonija and Maggie; Beauty Scheme has Sammul and Myolie).

So I take back my word that Yu Zheng won’t favour Sammul. Lol, Yu Zheng likes to use former TVBer.
