Zanilia Zhao Wins TV Queen On Her Birthday
It was a night of double happiness for Zanilia Zhao Liying (赵丽颖), who was crowned China’s TV Queen after winning My Favorite TV Actress of the Year at the China TV Golden Eagle Awards on October 16, the day of her 29th birthday.
The 28th Golden Eagle Awards were held on Sunday, October 16 in Changsha, Hunan. Zanilia defeated hot favorite Liu Tao (刘涛) for Favorite Actress, winning alongside Tong Liya (佟丽娅) for the coveted TV Queen award. Liu Tao’s costar, Nirvana in Fire’s <琅琊榜> Hu Ge (胡歌), won Favorite Actor alongside Wang Lei (王雷).
The TV Queen award was not the only birthday surprise for Zanilia that night. When she returned to her hotel, her staff surprised her with a modest, yet decorative birthday party. The staff scatted flower petals all over the room, and decorated the walls with balloons and the tables with roses. In the middle of the coffee table is a large cake, with a caricature of Zanilia in a pink ball gown. Zanilia herself wore a police cap with bunny ears, which is a character from Disney’s Zootopia.
Many fans rushed to Zanilia’s social media account to offer their birthday blessings and congratulations. Zanilia’s staff also asked fans to celebrate the special day with Zanilia. Many fans have thanked the staff, expressing their gratitude and jealousy of Zanilia for having staff members that treat her like family.
