Lin Gengxin and Zanilia Zhao Spent CNY Eve Together?

Sparking romantic rumors since they collaborated on costume drama The Legend of Shen Li <與鳳行>, netizens have expressed well wishes for Cdrama queen Zanilia Zhao Liying (趙麗穎) and actor Kenny Lin Gengxin (林更新). Fans noticed both had harmonized the timings of their respective festive greeting post to midnight on Chinese New Year Day 1 with a similar IP location in Jiangsu, flaming speculation that they had chosen to ring in the new year in each other’s company!

Hint 1: A Hoodie With “Dog” Ears

Zanilia’s visual caption on “kickstarting a new year and chapter” cleverly repeated the Chinese character “Xin” in Lin Gengxin’s name. This, plus the fact that her wradrobe option was a dog-eared hoodie jacket which allegedly alluded to the actor’s nickname, “Lin Gou” (林狗,literally Lin Dog), drove netizens to guess that they were not-so-discreetly expressing their affection for each other. The two had first collaborated in Princess Agents <楚喬傳> and again recently in The Legend of Shen Li.

When Lin Gengxin appeared on a recent episode of Chinese variety show Sunny Mood <太陽市集>, host Xie Na (謝娜) had remarked, “I love your recent works like “The Tale of Rose <玫瑰的故事>” and “The Legend of Shen Li” with Zanilia, will you guys pair up for the third time?” Laughing shyly in response, Lin Gengxin replied, “You’ll have to ask her about it,” before adding, “I’ll have to see if Zhao Laoshi (teacher Zhao) is agreeable”. His look of bliss throughout the replies only spurred fans shipping the couple to clamor avidly for their next onscreen tie-up!

Hint 2: Meeting the Besties

Zanilia had brought Lin Gengxin to meet with her besties Zhang Bichen (張碧晨) and Wang Yiyao (王伊瑤) in the Chinese New Year video she shared in 2024, creating waves of excitement among her fans who thought that the rumored pair might be close to tying the knot.

Hint 3: Matching Phone Covers & Hem-holding 

During Tencent Video All Star Night 2024, the two were discovered to be using matching handphone cases, while Lin Gengxin also stood by and whispered to Zanilia all night long, the two’s chatter a clear sign that they thoroughly enjoyed each other’s company.

When the event came to an end, he was spotted bending down to help hold up her dress’s hem as if it was the most natural thing to do, and escorting Zanilia from the stage to her crew of helpers, in a gentlemanly move which also showed how protective he was of the actress.
