Damian Lau (劉松仁), Idy Chan (陳玉蓮), Tavia Yeung (楊怡), Kenneth Ma (馬國明), Ron Ng (吳卓羲), and Rebecca Zhu (朱晨麗 ) attended the costume fitting for new TVB series, Prominent Family <名媛望族> . In the series, Idy will portray Damien’s second wife while Tavia will portray his fourth wife. As Damien’s wife, will Tavia have to sit on his thigh? Tavia laughed and said that Damien will sit on her thigh instead!
Asked whether Tavia was disappointed that she did not win the TV Queen title at the 2011 Astro On Demand Awards in Malaysia earlier, Tavia said that she was not disappointed. Tavia was happy for Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) in winning the title. However, Tavia did not forget to support herself in the upcoming TVB Anniversary Awards.
Disappearing from the public eye for a lengthy amount of time since, Idy Chan noted that she has not collaborated with Damien Lau since 2008’s Catch Me Now <原來愛上賊>. Idy revealed that it was due to the producer and Damien’s involvement in the project that she decided to accept the role. Asked whether her acting may have become stiff due to absence from the screen, Idy laughed and said that was not the case, although the amount of time required to put on her make-up took longer! Regarding Andy Lau’s (劉德華) wife’s pregnancy, Idy noted that she was unaware of the news and will have to call him for confirmation.
Since Idy was working in mainland China earlier, Idy did not realize that Andy Lau (劉德華) won the Best Actor and Deanie Ip (葉德嫻) won the Best Actress Award at the 2011 Golden Horse Awards. Idy indicated that she only knew Deanie had won the Best Actress Award at the 68th Annual Venice Film Festival earlier.
Due to Fala Chen (陳法拉) suffering from facial paralysis and taking a 1-month leave of absence from TVB, 2011 Miss Hong Kong winner, Rebecca Zhu, replaced Fala in Prominent Family. Complimenting Fala for her beauty, Rebecca hoped that Fala will recover soon. Rebecca noted that she did not mind being the second actress to be considered for the role and felt honored to be given the performance opportunity.
In Prominent Family, Rebecca will be involved in a love triangle with Ron Ng and Kenneth Ma. Ron Ng noted that he will guide newcomer, Rebecca Zhu, during filming. When the reporter asked Ron whether he will be as “hospitable” as Benny Chan (陳浩民), Ron noted there was no need to do so, as the director will also be guiding Rebecca during filming.
Prominent Family is produced by Chong Wai Kin (莊偉建). It is normal to recycle since it is good to save money and also not put the costume to waste after only one series. Unless TVB suffers another fire and has to design all new costumes again…
I think it would be better for TVB to like auction their costumes that jut reuse it. This way fans can get some memorable piece while getting new costumes to fit a new series could be bought from the money autioned. That way it would be good fir both sides

Such inappropriate questions usually get no responses anyhow, given how out of context it was.
Damien is destined to die in “Prominent Family” as the patriarch…otherwise there is no story to tell, no collapse of family wealth to save, no evil plotting between the wives after the head of household dies.
Perhaps Kenneth Ma will show he can lead a series after Damien’s character dies. It’s either Kenneth or Ron Ng.
It will be Kenneth who lead if Damien dies. Ron plays Tavia’s little brother. So, he’s only related to the family via his sister’s marriage into it. Kenneth, on the other hand, is the only son of Damien. So, he’s the only male heir of the family. He will have to take over his father’s position if his father dies.

The producer is LOO producer and he’s using a tried and true formula for Ron. Ron’s character remind me of Cripple Co in LOO. Bosco get good reviews after Cripple Co and many people said he’s better than Michael. Since their characters are almost same Ron will also get the limelight like Cripple Co.

Same here, this series has a lot of actors and actresses I like but I will have to look for how many screentime they will have to judge that I should watch this one or not. Before when Fala is still in this one, she might be a lead -> chance for me to watch higher, but Rebecca replaced her, then have to consider how long does Damien, Mary, JJ and Rebecca has to judge. Myolie’s getting alot of scenes lately with the exposure of her bb secret to the emperor and I dont agree with some ppl that Myolie’s acting is horrible. I think she can convinced me as evil concubine more than TY in BTROC. The most impressive scene of Myolie was when she laughed crazily infront of Jessica when Jessica begs her to release her dad.
I think Myolie is fine in COTRH and shes not as ott as Kam Ling in BTROC. Im annoyed by HK audiences who have too much time to complain to TVB about Myoli’s acting.

yes I think Myolie’s crazily laugh was nicely done. She was supposed to act like “losing her mind” after her mom’s death and the crazy laugh was quite good, shows she’s lose her mind thinking of revenge.
Maybe I’ve this weird habit, always like to see artist playing outstanding scene like Bosco licking shoe, mYolie’s crazy laugh, Jessica playing evil concubine (which she seldom plays evil character too), TY plays evil (too bad, she failed in BTROC) etc.

She got the nerve to ask Jessica “lets get along” because she didnt want any bad karma to be passed to her baby. She also promised the buddha that she’ll starting making good deeds inorder to exchange for her baby’s health and life. That’s why she hopes Jessica will forgive her and get along..
I think it’s too late to worry about the bad karma. She blamed Jessica even though her evil mom brought it upon herself. Then she expects Jessica to just forget about what happened to her dad (who was innocent BTW). I think myolie is as diluted as her mom.

Josie, the way that cursed series go, everyone will be orphaned in the end. Mom dies, blame Jess. Dad dies, blame Myolie. Then myolie kills her mom, she kills her uncle, she kills her aunt, etc etc and in the end I hope they each have a huge set of relatives to get killed off. And lesson no. 1. NEVER EVER confess in a temple before checking every corner. Dumb storyline.
And myolie is awful. And the scene where she and joel looked at Sunny in shocked after he heard what they said and revealed his presence to them was seriously funny. I mean seriously comical. Myolie just acts without a hint of subtlety. I can understand the criticisms and I am one who thinks she’s awful. Jess is different sort of awful.

My eyes is sore from the chilli red (wall) on chilli red (costume)on chilli red (lipstick). But I am most sore about the rudeness of everyone. Now it is becoming some huge tragic drama. Not even Qiongyau could write such melodrama.
Evil people always laugh crazily when they lose and go insane? Actually I like BTROC ending. I may have wished for a better death for Tavia but after watching the entire series I was happy with her ending because frankly she was such an insignificant petty villain, she deserves an insignificant petty end. No glorious machine gun raining on her sort of scene.
Myolie and Tavia are overacting like crazy women in their villain roles. I know that scene of Myolie talking to Joel. HOLY her gwing face comes back at that time when she was doing her OTT acting. Jessica is Jessica and something about her is unnatural and dull in this palace setting.
Bring back Sheren! She was damn subtle in WAB something that Tavia and Myolie can’t do!
Judging from her “evil” performance in BTROC, I would not want to see Tavia acting evil again, ever. But what else can Tavia play? Definitely not anymore of those innately kind but just stubborn, i-have-a-mind-of-my-own kind of girl. Man…I don’t know what else Tavia could be.

Maybe Ron will surprise you one day. Gallen Lo was wooden faced for many years until his big breakout. Even Bobby Au Yeung was stony-faced for many years. Maybe Ron needs to just live life more, experience more bitterness, and overcome some personal obstacles before his acting skills grow. Life experience and gaining wisdom are important components of success in any job.

Ron’s weaking point is eyes acting. You want him to have intense killing eyes with evil aura like Galen? I think you will have to wait a long time.
Bosco has always been a better actor then Ron. He already can act with his eyes in is first major role as Tam Chi Tung in ‘Fight The Light’. That was the first time I saw Bosco act and was most impressed with this newbie actor. His acting became stagnant in the middle, but, now, he seems to have pick up his pace again in LOO. Bosco has never been wooden. Even in his weakest portrayal, he was not wooden.

In my POV, Rebecca has the most appealing presence among the past few years’ Miss HK. I can see why TBB wants to push her fast.

It used to be the other way around… TVB used to have many very beautiful costumes, but even back then they recycled their clothes(just not as often). China used to have more dull and not so nice clothing. Other series have nice costumes as well besides BBJX.

Gotta go in with zero expectations with this one, BTROC taught me that. Especially since this cast looks like a huge gap between the vets’ ability and the young guns. I can’t decide who will be worse – Ron or Kenneth? Kenneth is the better actor but not in these types of series and Ron is well, Ron.
The man chor type series are the only type I actually really enjoy watching Tavia in, so hopefully she does well.
I think it’s gonna be one of those series where one of the side characters. non-A-listers will make an impression on me.
Although Yesterday’s Glitter is considered one of the all time TVB classics, I just can’t watch the series a second time. The acting is good and the script is great but it is too much of a tearjerker. Too tragic for me. Terrible things happening to innocent people and a weak protagonist besotted and overwhelmed by the schemers around him. If Prominent Family is to follow Yesterday’ Glitter’s template I think I will give this one a skip.
Please tell me Kenneth is not YET again the villain and Ron not YET again the nice brash dude with a quick temper? Please don’t! Please NO!! I want Kenneth the nice guy. Is this a sad story? And is Tavia considered upgraded since her leading man is the father veteran of such series? Quick guess how long Damien will live in the series before he dies?

If Selena did well then how come she didnt win an award or got into top 5 for supporting actress? People did not even talked about her role in beyond. How do you know Tavia got criticize on the slapping scene with selena? From what i see, Hong kong audience did not complain about Tavia’s performance. Everyone at this site or other enlgish forms always use her performacne in beyond to bash her and I will use the fact that she won My Favorite female character to argue back that she won an award for her solid performance in Beyond. I think Tavia’s character will be a more fleshed out version of Nancy in NR. TVB not only recycles costumes, they also always recycled characters and plots. How many family feud dramas can you possibly make using the exact same TV tropes?

Yeah. Men without shadows received complaints too, which freaked me out cause Raymond’s dramas always appeared good. Now, Pathetic.!

Who are the 2 children in the picture? I hope 1 of them is Idy’ s kid. I hope she won’t end up lonely. I read that 1st wife has 3 children in the pics and the 3rd wife also has kid but don’t know how many. So wish our Idy does the same.
