Myolie Wu Breaking Under Pressure from “Rosy Business 3”

In order to gain viewership, TVB has been continuously launching series that contain shocking sexual and violent content. Rosy Business 3: No Reserve <巾幗梟雄之諜血長天> is already generating controversy due to Myolie Wu’s (胡杏兒) daring scenes.
Portraying a spy who has to obtain confidential information from the Japanese army, Myolie’s character will be raped by Bob Lam (林盛斌). She will also seduce Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) in order to gain his trust in the series. Myolie will also be whipped while tortured by the series’ arch villain, Edwin Siu (萧正楠).
Partially due to the pressure of having to star in the third installment of the successful Rosy Business franchise replacing two-time TV Queen Sheren Tang (鄧萃雯), Myolie has been suffering from heavy mood swings. However, this is not the first time that she has been conflicted over filming. While filming To Grow With Love (肥田囍事), Myolie gained 50 pounds for the role, which eventually led to mood disorders.
Psychological Distress is Common Among Artists
Myolie is not the only artist who has been collapsing under pressure lately. Earlier, when filming for Bullet Brain (神探高倫布), Sire Ma (馬賽) had suicidal thoughts from not being able to detach herself from her character. And despite having won the title of TV Queen twice already, even Sheren admitted that filming for Beauty At War <金枝慾孽（貳)> led to her mood disorder. It is no surprise that filming such an intense drama in which her character undergoes tragic circumstances will cause unstable mood swings for Myolie.
The 33-year old actress confessed that she was slightly nervous in the beginning after reading the script because of the action scenes and big mood changes her character has to go through in the drama.
Wayne said, “The entire drama will have a thick plot and feel exciting. Due to the life and death situation experienced during the Sino-Japanese War, the characters will go to their extreme points. There will be many peaks and pits one after another.”

I actually feel sorry for her though because replacing Sheren in this drama is going to give her a lot of pressure… everyone is going to expect her to live up to Sheren’s standards….
If she is not, perhaps she should not be replacing Sheren Tang. “Rosy Business” and “No Regrets” are icons of Sheren Tang and Wayne Lai”, why should Sheren be replaced?
If Myolie Wu is a well-deserved TV Queen with excellent acting, she should be able to act up to the standard of other good veteran’s acting.
myolie is NOT replacing sheren! lee tim sing purposely pick myolie for this challenging role necause myolie is most suitable for the strong female role which undergoes many tragic and difficulties in life and her age fits it! lee tim sing said he never contacted sheren at all! it was myolie from the beginning! only sheren’s supporters are making unnecessary noise over this and make poor myolie wrongly accused!
What people mean by Myolie replacing Sheren is that Myolie is playing the female lead of ‘RB3’ when Sheren was the female lead for the past two RBs (lol). And no one is accusing Myolie of anything. You should stop being so defensive…
Perhaps Myolie should take this drama series as her challenge to prove that she is a well-deserved TV Queen.

that’s what myolie is doing now! she even stopped posting her weibo unlike before when she post everyday just to concentrate on her career defining role! too many antis here are so quick to bash myolie before seeing her performance! i believe many are just jealous that myolie was specially picked by lee tim shing and not sheren! i believe myolie will shine even above wayne in the series as even from seeing filming pictures and reading role description myolie has the most interesting part!
agree. feel really bad for myolie. she’s an innocent victim here. lots of sheren’s supporters always wrongly bash myolie because of this series when myolie never even take sheren’s place in the first place! can’t wait to see how these bashers will be ashamed when myolie shines brightly and have her breakthrough in this series. maybe only then the antis will shut up or even start to praise myolie 🙂
It’s ironic because you bash other artistes as well yet you get extremely defensive about Myolie.
No one is bashing Myolie, they’re simply doubting whether she’ll be able to do as well as Sheren.
feel bad for myolie but this is the sacrifices she has to go through to achieve the highest point in her career! she will the reward when the series aired with this interesting and heroic spy role! 🙂

We will just have to see how good or bad she will be. No point speculating now. Just hope the series actually has highs and peaks.

Rosy business 1 & 2 was really addictive and I must say Sherene Tang’s acting skill was marvellous. It is really a pity that she’s not continuing in Part 3 and I’m seriously doubtful that Myolie can really shine in comparison with Sherene. Moreover look at Wayne Lai’s rating in Bullet Brain – can’t bear the show no sense at all. TVB please screen better series for all your fans.
I think TVB will after getting all the criticisms in “Bullet Brain”. At least Wayne Lai knows that he has to act better in “RB3”.

I am not a huge fan of either Sheren or Myolie. But not sure whether you have seen Sheren’s acting in Part 1 & 2, but she can just act with her body language and eyes. Yes, Myolie is a good actress but why do you think she is having heavy mood swings? Clearly she is under immense pressure to deliver great acting as Sheren. Otherwise there would not be this article for us to share our views.

love the role and love how there are lots of heavy and emotional challenging scenes that will prove myolie is a tv queen! also love that producer lee said he will guide myolie to achieve her highest acting potential and shut up all the antis!
what you all should worry more is if wayne is up to the challenge after showing his inability to lead bullet brain. not surprised if suddenly myolie and edwin shine over wayne when rosy 3 no reserve aired either in oct or november this year. go myolie you’re the best among the fadans!
love myolie’s role which is full of thick and thins of life and is a strong and courageous spy. this role will show myolie’s full strength of acting and at that time i will laugh at the antis here who keep bashing myolie because sheren isn’t picked by lee tim sing. get back to reality. the role is too young for sheren and it was producer lee who exclusively made the call, myolie is at the receiving end. if you were myolie, you won’t reject such a promising and heroic role either.
hope myolie can win it this year with this challenging role and bring her career to a new level!
Usually a role is created as per acting ability, face, age, and personality of an artiste. Therefore, I don’t think Myolie Wu was picked for this role because she is more suitable for it than Sheren.
The reasons for Sheren Tang not cast as the 1st lead actress are:
1) TVB wants to create a new image and icon for “Rosy Business” by selecting Myolie Wu, the big sister among all the new fadans
2) TVB Senior Management’s choice
3) Sheren declined the offer due to her health problems after filming “Beauty at War”
4) TVB wants to promote and secure Myolie’s TV Queen status in Hong Kong
are you saying lee tim shing lies? he himself said that he chose myolie because he saw myolie in the role! that’s why he didn’t choose sheren because sheren will be too old and unsuitable for the role! tvb won’t be able to play a part in lee tim sing series much because he always play by his own choice. just like how he made a big mistake choosing sire as the dumb useless female officer which sire bombed with her bad acting. gone were sire’s potential that i saw when she was in the sitcom with liza wang. at least i believe lee tim shing made a better decision casting a tv queen this time since myolie’s acting will be able to hold the series and thank god the role is intelligent spy and not a useless female.
Just wait and watch the drama series. We will surely find out the results! No need to argue. Lee Tim Sing is not always right. It is reflected very clearly in his “Bullet Brain”.

Sheren is an excellent actress and delivered wonderful performances in the series. Myolie will certainly feel the pressure of trying to live up to, not only her own but also, the public’s high expectations. It’s understandable if she is moods fluctuate. I feel bad for the actors and actresses who place such high expectations upon themselves to perform to their best and remain in character. I believe they beat themselves up more than the public over their own performance and that can be dangerous, eg. Heath Ledger and most recently Sire Ma. I just wish netizens and the general public were not so harsh on these celebrities. They have feelings, they hurt too.
I thought that Bullet Brain would be the first Wayne Lai lead show to get low ratings, and it is.
Wouldn’t be surprised if this will be the second. I like all the cast in this show, but I just feel that the storyline is too OTT, the story writers tried too hard to make the show dramatic. Don’t think the HK audience is going to like it.
Have confidence in myolie she can do this. she’s been improving all the while . I love her :)))) this drama will be great!!! I hope it will air at the end of the year <3 or nov. I can see she's putting a lot of effort to this drama. goodluck myolie! <3
I like Molie a lot but was just thinking what if charmaine sheh takes this role n her chemistry with Wayne… No doubt she looks perfect with kelvin, but I hav not seen her with wayne… Might b interesting…just a thought…
