Donnie Yen to Star in “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” Sequel

Although Donnie Yen (甄子丹) may not appear in Ip Man 3 <葉問 3>, fans will be delighted to learn that he will play the male lead in the sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon <臥虎藏龍>.

The Weinstein Company announced at the Cannes Film Festival that the Crouching Tiger sequel would begin filming in March 2014. The storyline will be adapted from the book Iron Knight, Silver Vase <鐵騎銀瓶>, written by novelist Wang Dulu (王度廬). This book is the fifth installment in Wang’s wuxia-romance pentalogy, the Crane Iron Series <鶴鐵系列>, and its story focuses on events that happen in the generation after that of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Although Donnie’s exact role has not yet been decided, the production studio confirmed that he will portray the film’s male lead. Also joining the cast is Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh (楊紫瓊), who will reprise her character, Yu Xiulian, from the first movie.

Director Ang Lee (李安), who won an Oscar nomination for Best Director due to his work on Crouching Tiger, will not be returning to direct the sequel. Rather, the film will be helmed by director and martial arts choreographer Yuen Woo Ping (袁和平), who did the choreography work for the first movie.

“I extremely like Ang Lee’s movies,” said Harvey Weinstein, one of the founders and chairmen of The Weinstein Company, during the announcement on Thursday. “But we believe that this movie will be equally wonderful in the hands of Yuen Woo Ping.”

Crouching Tiger grossed $128 million USD in the United States, making it the highest-grossing foreign-language film in American history. It was nominated for ten Oscars at the 73rd Academy Awards and won four, including Best Foreign Language Film. More details about the sequel will be revealed at the Cannes Film Festival.

She was traitor of Malaysia ,for all Malaysia who still want justice for Teoh Beng Hock ,Altantunya ,Kugan and blackout 505 .please boycott this movies if Michelle Yeoh was in.

    Regard.

    1. She’s just an artist, not a politician. Why be so petty about this, even if she’s standing up for a belief that’s different from yours?

Her influence over politics are limited …

      1. if she is not a politician – why is she so close to the politicians and politics.

She is a prostitute. Money can BUY her.

I will boycott her. I hope everyone does too.

    2. Under Malaysian democracy, every Malaysian has a constitutional right to vote for his or her party of choice.

Likewise you too have your choice to boycott her movies – your loss

      1. This is why your democracy and all these talks about democracy in other countries is an absolute farce. When you cannot accept the opinion of others and reputriate others as traitors because they do not side with your view, ideology and movement. You will demonise them. Words like traitors, fascists, dictators, autocrats etc. are brandished around so easily. You’re nothing more than a follower of the new wave of political movement. A mindless brain washed sheep.

      2. >>>Words like traitors, fascists, dictators, autocrats etc. are brandished around so easily<<<

You don't know history – i would advise you to be quiet about the subject lest you appear foolish.

    3. i will not go for michelle yeoh’s movie too, between it’s illuminati.. satanic worship

    4. Woooooo!!! Excellent news! Won’t have to fight for tickets

I will boycott michelle yeoh, but i’m not gonna boycott a good movie IF the movie is good..

wut if all big movies like transformers 4, avengers 2, star wars 7, etc have michelle yeoh in it? then, PLEASE DONT WATCH..but I can gurantee u sure go download it or buy pirated dvd to watch it inside you house, even if your mouth speak otherwise.

  2. I will boycott this movie if michelle yeoh start in this movie, she a disgrace to all malaysia ,
Come on hire other actress, this old chick is just overated .

  3. I will boycott this movie too if michelle yeoh in it. Pointless to support her since she support racism (against Chinese) and media blackout by Barisan. What i heard she receive lot of money and contract by supporting this party.

  4. Well, China is a communist country (which has one of the worst human rights record) and I don’t see anyone else boycotting their movies, so what difference does it make if Michelle Yeoh supports a party that is different from yours? It’s about how the artist portrays the character and if the plot is any good, otherwise, no matter who is in it, the movie will either flop or succeed.

    1. Yes every one have the own rite to support either party they like. But in her speech she “urge “ppl to support/ follow with her to support the same party. That’s the different own rite n using status to convience ppl .

      1. I agree that everyone has their own right to support whichever party they want. However, I have not heard the speech she gave and I as of right now, have no idea what is going on Malaysia as I do not live there, but from I understand, people of miniority (doesn’t matter which country you are from) are being marginalized by the local/provincial/state government. I will not pass judgement until I know the full story.

  5. Yap, no loss for boycotting her movies.she is overrated and not much of a good actress anyway except for her no lingo part in James Bond 007.A one time bond girl and a BN polisher is what she is really good at.MY family and I even boycott the milk brand that she endorsed.

  6. btw, dat is not her movie..she’s not the main actor, she’s not the director & not even the producer..lol..boycott “HER MOVIE”…lol
