Jiang Wen, Takeshi Kaneshiro, and Eddie Peng Arrive in Xi’an for “The Hidden Warrior”

A few days ago, Xi’an reporters received news that the cast and crew of Jiang Wen’s (姜文) upcoming film The Hidden Warrior <侠隐> have arrived in Xi’an and were filming by the Xi’an City Wall, one of the oldest preserved fortifications in China. Sources leaked that the crew expects to spend a week in Xi’an.

The Hidden Warrior was announced in July 2016. Directed by Jiang Wen, the film is an adaptation of the wuxia novel of the same name by Zhang Beihai (张北海), about a young man in 1930’s China who returns home as a spy, and seeks revenge for his family.

The starring cast of The Hidden Warrior has not been announced, but sources said they saw Eddie Peng (彭于晏) and Takeshi Kaneshiro (金城武) at the film site. Takeshi plays Li Tianran, the main protagonist.

The Hidden Warrior is Jiang Wen’s final installment to his trilogy of films that are set during the Beiyang period of early 1920’s China. The first one was Let the Bullets Fly <让子弹飞> in 2010, followed by its second installment Gone with the Bullets <一步之遥> in 2014.
