Andy Lau Wins 2011 Golden Horse Best Actor Award; Wife Currently 5 Months Pregnant!
Andy Lau (劉德華) won the 2011 Golden Horse Best Actor Award due to his performance in A Simple Life <桃姐>. On November 28th in the AM hours, 50-year-old Andy Lau wrote on his blog that he had good news in his family to share with his fans, leading to speculations that his wife, 45-year-old Carol Chu (朱麗倩), was pregnant! Andy said that he hoped to receive the blessing of fans.
Since 2009, when Andy and Carol Chu’s marriage came to light after they were spotted holding hands at the airport, the issue of when Carol would become pregnant became the focus of media attention. Allegedly, Carol conceived successfully this time due to in vitro fertilization.
Andy’s friend and radio host, Eileen Cha (查小欣), sent a congratulatory message to Andy regarding Carol’s pregnancy. Andy personally responded with, “1…0000000000 thanks!” Andy’s personal assistant noted that Andy treated his family affairs in a low profile manner and will no longer respond on the matter.
Deanie Ip Wins Best Actress Award
Since winning the Best Actress Award at the 68th Annual Venice Film Festival for her performance in A Simple Life, Deanie Ip (葉德嫻) once again won the Best Actress Award at the 2011 Golden Horse Awards.
Another hot favorite in the Best Actress race in the 2011 Golden Horse Awards, Shu Qi (舒淇), generously attended the celebratory party after the awards event. Shu Qi noted, “I am in good spirits, as being nominated is already recognition in itself. I willingly lost to Deanie Jeh, as I saw that her chances in winning were highly favorable.”

Thank goodness HeTieshou is the only one who has good sense. There were photos of Andy, his wife and a young child shopping. Typical Andy fans above to abuse me saying what I did. To the fans, the guy is 50 years old, let him live the life he wants without his fans going mental over little things.
Well apparently you (Sammie) made it sound like you had insider information and was sure he had a daughter, so I think we (most of us) just wanted clarification. So basically your comment about him having a daughter were the result of baseless rumors and as long as any child is photographed with Andy Lau they are consider his daughter/son?
So missyliu, tell me, you really think a 50 years old man who had fame, fortune would wait til he is 50 years old and his wife in her late 40s to have a child? Come on, let us not be so naive. It is so easy to say it is all rumours, but you tell me if a man who is financially secure would wait so long to have a child?
Everyone has the choice to believe what they see and hear from the media. And the answer to your question is yes, I believe this is going to be his first child.
My theory is he chose to focus on his career/fame/fortune/image/fanbase at the expense of having a family.
It is more naive to think that everyone should follow a set schedule when it comes to marriage and having kids. A lot of people are choosing to have kids in their late 30’s/40’s/50’s who are we to say if it is right or wrong.

Please, have a daughter with Andy? I rather sleep with a rock thanks. Give me Aaron Kwok and I would be on my knees begging him to ravish him. Aaron Kwok is handsome even if he is 40ish years old. I don’t hate Andy Lau, I just don’t like the way he carries himself thinking he is still the heavenly king. Leon Lai and Jackie Cheung both have been open about who they are dating and end up marrying without hiding their spouse. Andy comes across as pathetic, I admired his wife Carol for being in the backgrounds all these years. The only good thing I have to say about Andy is he has not forsaken Carol especially when he could easily trade her in for a younger wife, so I suppose Andy should be praised for that.

I can see where Sammi is coming from. I like andy and listen 2 his music a lot. Also like his movies. What i don’t like is how pathetic he is with his fans. he sometimes comes across as a hypocrite too. I like him but just being honest. He said in anger he is not going to be a father most recently, if eric tsang did not force him andy was not going to say he is going to be a daddy. Fans can thank eric tsang fro baby news. He lies to fans, again, was forced by eric to admit baby news, and then asks for blessing from fans who he lied to again most recently. What I like Andy is his skill of pretending. Absolutely perfect pretender. He never showed his lust yet all the movies he had kissed with so many pretty women, this made all the women crazy about him. He pretended to be a diamond bachelor yet he is married for ages. I too heard andy hz daughter but wife is not the mother. iheard he and the wife has had on and off again relationship over the years and he had a lot of affairs. I hear andy will not admit daughter because it is 2 remain a secret and because he already tell fans he has no children. He even talk about proving no children with hiring lawyers.What nonsense. I hear too that he wants a son 2 carry on lau name so he and carol were trying very hard for baby boy.I guess after the way fans treated andy when father in law died, and accused him of lying and deceit, he will not admit child as he will lose fans surely.It will not reflect good on him to disown daughter because he is loked at as a filial son. I have a different view on the whole thing though, about him keeping it a secret from the public.
Celebrities know what they are sacrificing once they stood under the limelight. However, some of them are very secretive or tight lipped about their personal life. Andy Lau is one of them, just like Tony Leung.
Perhaps one of the reasons he kept it a secret is because of his fan base (who knows?) but there is also a probability that he do it because his wife doesn’t like the attention. Do you guys think it’s possible for him to keep it a secret if his wife wants their relationship to be known?
As for fans who are ‘hurt’ or felt betrayed by his lies – these are in fact his personal life. If he and his wife is fine with this whole deny-marriage-deny-pregnancy arrangement, who are we to judge? Besides, most of you ex-fans seems to be more pre-occupied with his goody-two-shoes image and went bonkers over his personal life lies rather than anything else.
fans were praying hard for andy to get a baby, they wanted baby for him as much as he wanted baby for himself. He still denied even after wife was five months pregnant. He was forced by eric tsang to confess 2 fans or fan would not know of baby. His wife has the choice to not want public life, does not mean he has to keep fooling fans. I guess one can choose to say nothing if no one kept pestering them for answers. It’s kinda like, “ask me no questions, and I will tell you no lies”.
Don’t get me wrong about one thing though. I listen to his songs and watch his movies, and I also think that he should have been honest and end the speculation about his marriage and his wife’s pregnancy (nothing chases away the paparazzi better than telling the truth :p)

Andy Lau is just a bloke who is in his early 50s with a wife who is 5 mths pregnant. Regardless of the reason why he wanted to hide the things he hid from everyone, I’ve always felt that if someone does not wish to reveal something – give it a rest and move on to other things.

Andy say, when he married or about to marry, he will blog fans, he even tease fans at concert and ask them if he should get married. He pretened to only meet Carol once. He keep telling fans how lonely he is with no one on special holidays . All this time he sharing house with Carol. Then give stupid and anal ecuses to fan when marriage was found out. More lies. Then denied pregnancy even after wife is past three months. Only admit after he was forced by ‘big brother’ Eric Tsang. Not learnt anything.
