Cecilia Cheung and Nicholas Tse to Move to Shanghai; Family Slated to Earn $111 Million

Initially, Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung rejected the idea of their son, Lucas, working in the entertainment industry. However, Cecilia and Lucas have now agreed to sing the theme song for Stephen Chow Sing Chi’s new animated film, CJ7 Loving Earth <长江7号爱地球>.  In order to earn money, Cecilia will postpone her plans of having a third child. She will pocket $6 million (HKD) in her first come-back movie filming for Derek Yee.

Allegedly, Nic and Cecilia changed their former stance on allowing Lucas to work in the entertainment industry due to Nic’s new business start-up plans. When his EEG contract expires at the end of the year, Nic will partner with former EEG executive, Chow Chu Fai, and start his own production company in China.

To accommodate the new business venture, Cecilia and Nic may move to Shanghai with their children. While attending the press conference for CKJ Loving Earth, Cecilia allegedly went house-hunting in Shanghai. The couple also listed their current Hong Kong home at Ocean Bay for sale at $140 million (HKD). Allegedly, they have an asking price of $30 million for any advertisers that are interested in featuring Nic, Cecilia, Lucas, and Quintus together in their ads.

Due to Nic’s filming fees, Cecilia’s comeback movie, commercials and other fees, the potential advertising suitors for Lucas, as well the potential $40 million profit from the sale of their Hong Kong home, the Tse family may earn $111.5 million (HKD) in the second half of 2010. Apparently, these funds will apply towards payment of Nic’s new production company.

Jayne: The public is obsessed with the celebrities’ children. Whether they want to or not, Lucas will always grow up under the media’s limelight. Relocating to Shanghai sounds like a good idea, as it may give Lucas and Quintus more space to grow up with less media intrusion.

  1. I think that if they truly want privacy and let their kids grow up in a home with normalcy then it’s best if they move to Canada or the U.S. The reason being is that both Cecilia and Nic are well known in China or Hong Kong so the media will always be their shadows. But if they were to move to the U.S., that wouldn’t be a problem and on top of that their children will get a better education.

  2. If they truly want privacy, then don’t let Lucas sing the song! It is that simple. The fact that he is in the entertainment business now means whatever talks about privacy is just pure hypocrisy. AND the article made it sound like Nic is using his own son for his own company.

  3. I keep hearing they don’t want their son in the entertainment industry but based on the old and new articles about them tell otherwise.

  4. Totally agree with you guys, but have to say that it is not easy to just “move” to the US even if you had a lot of money. They will have a better chance of moving to Canada if they ever wanted to in the future since anyone can move to Canada and stay there if you just have money. Plus, Nic’s family has lived in Canada in the past already. I highly doubt that they want privacy for their kids. I think they really want him to enter the circle and live the high life like they always did. But you can’t really blame them because they want the best for their kids. In Nic’s case, both of his parents were from the circle so it is hard to not want to join due to having such good connections that sadly not everyone who wants to join the circle has. Therefore, why not take advantage of it??

  5. Why am I not surprised that Nic and Cecilia are whoring out their son already?? LOL, put it this way…. Nic and Cecilia aren’t exactly classy well-educated people. Just look at Nic’s parents. Oh, and let’s not forget the Cecilia’s famous “photo” shoot.

  6. There is NO WAY Lucas will not be involved in the entertainment business! Both Nic and Cecilia are putting Lucas on TV already! Commercials and singing theme songs?! Really? Do they not know that Lucas is already IN the entertainment business?

  7. So what if Lucas is in the entertainment industry? Are you implying that because he’s in the entertainment industry, it’s ok to have his privacy invaded, safety disregarded, and rights as a citizen taken away? Wow, that’s like saying that Erin Andrews deserved to have those videos of her online because of the way she dresses (what idiotic Elizabeth Hasselbeck said). And it’s like saying that rape victims deserved what they got because they were too inviting in those outfits. What ever happened to our ability to think logically?

  8. Poor Lucas is being paraded in front of the media by his own parents. The kid is 3, getting involved in the E. industry cant be his own choice, he doesnt even know what a singer is…. Give this child some freedom, just because he acts naturally with the camera doesnt mean that he has to be forced to work in this industry.
