Deborah Li: “I Have Not Seen My Grandchildren Since April!”

A few days ago, Nicholas Tse’s mother, former actress Deborah Li, appeared at the HK airport along with her husband to fly to Singapore in order to visit a medical centre.Upon arriving at the airport, despite her bad health condition, she was feeling pretty well and smiling. A reporter approached Deborah and asked wheter she had read the newspaper’s report about her son’s marriage. He then went on to give her a copy of the newspaper which accepted. after reading the latest reports about “Feng Zhi”, Deborah said “I just hope everyone will give them some more time!”

The night before leaving Hong Kong, Deborah accepted to give an interview to a tabloid and discuss about her son’s marital problems. She revealed that earlier on March, her son and Cecilia had a fight and Cecilia angrily left the house in her car. Later, when it was reported that she had actually hit an elderly man, Nicholas supposedly said to her, “I’ve had enough already. I’m never going back to you again!”

The reporter then asked her about Lucas and Quintus. A sad Deborah replied “I haven’t been able to see them since April…I miss them so much it breaks my heart!” She went on to reveal that when Quintus turned one in May, she had asked to let her help organize the celebration, yet her son suggested that she should wait more until Quintus is older. “I have never thought that a grandmother would need to ask for permission in order to see her grandsons! I don’t even know if I’m still going to be here when the day comes!” she added.
When she was asked to talk about Cecilia Cheung, she expressed “I haven’t seen her for a long time. Everyone knows that she’s been very busy with work the last six months. What I hear about her is through other people’s mouths, for example, ‘Your grandson is in Beijing now!'”.

Answering to reports that claimed that Nicholas was supposed to go to Yang Ming Shan with her, but then went alone, she explained,“Actually my son called me when he came back, but I felt that my presence there would just bring more trouble for him. However I will not be leaving Hong Kong on the 8th, so that I avoid meeting him or even his wife.”

Concluding the interview, Deborah revealed that the rumours about her giving permission to Cha Xiao Xin to talk about Nicholas’ marriage, problems had a bad effect on her health and gave her insomnia: “Now my body is getting weaker… I must take one sleeping pill every three hours,” she sighed and then added “I just really need to rest now. My tears have already dried in my eyes and my son is coming back.. I can now leave Hong Kong in peace!”

  1. A pity but I believe she probably orchestrated the entire divorce don’t you think? I mean I believe she has had enough of Cecilia and so did Nic but Nic probably didn’t want to go towards divorce just yet so the mother revealed intimate details to her friend who revealed to the world, and now she is revealing still. I really believe she orchestrated the entire thing, as in this is what she wanted.

    1. Agree with you to an extend Funn. The mother did play a part in Nic going ahead with the divorce. I wonder how Cecilia got on with Nic’s sister? If they didn’t see eye to eye, the sister may have a very big influence on Nic. It is sad the two of them cannot work things out, Nic isn’t the hottest guy in Hong Kong but he seems pretty tamed after being a dad. Still think he prefer cougars, eg: Faye Wong etc.

      1. From what I gathered, Jen and Ceci actually got along well. Ceci would even ask Jen and her boyfriend to help babysit Lucas and Quintus from time to time, but that was before this crisis.

  2. Agree. She was definitely gunning for a divorce. I think it would be better for everyone if she just styed silent.

  3. Guilty conscious caused her insomnia?

If she did not blab to Miss Cha, it would not blow up in the media and maybe Nic and Ceci could deal with their problems and marriage in private.

  4. I think even if Deborah didn’t blab to Miss Cha, sooner or later the marriage would be in trouble. They are both immature people and really shouldn’t have got married in the first place.

    1. Agreed. Why have two children if both parties want to film at least 4 films a year… at least according to the wiki. In my opinion, Quintus was conceived as a way to hold on to Nic and keep him invested in the marriage. Seems like their relationship has always been pretty volatile… feel bad for the poor children.

  5. Totally agree she should be quiet…nobody in the world has any right to tell a couple to have a divorce especially when you’re the mother unless physical vilence are involved otherwise no. Friends and families should give them space to work things out. I think they both had made some mistakes to hurt eachother, they really should work on changing for eachother for their children.

  6. i think deborah really miss her grandchildren, please for ceci dont stop her son to meet his grandmother dont split them.

  7. I haven’t seen Deb’s interview but I did see reporters trying to get opinions from Nic’s sister – she does not seem very articulate at all or maybe she can’t speak Chinese well, she seems to take forever to construct a sentence!

  8. Of course u need permission. Thats just basic courtesy, right? Imagine Mummy n two sons about to leave the house because they have some programne to attend and Granny suddenly came to visit unannouced. How? Ceci is the mummy and Nic is the daddy. U are just their granny. Pls get out of the picture.

  9. She started the high profile divorce affair by tipping Eileen Cha!

  10. Why would one need to take sleeping pills every 3 hours? I mean even in the day time? huh?
