Gillian Chung Warns Against Fake Invitations to Her Wedding Banquet

Gillian Chung (鍾欣潼) and Michael Lai (賴弘國) will be holding their Hong Kong wedding banquet on December 20. The wedding celebration became an opportunity for scammers, who tried to sell fake wedding invitations to the couple’s wedding.

Gillian took her anger to social media. In order to warn fans about the fake invitations, the 37-year-old actress posted, “I’ve recently noticed that there have been scammers trying to sell tickets for our wedding on December 20. I want to thank everyone who have been giving us their blessings but please don’t fall for the tricks – this is a private event, there is no way to buy your way into the wedding.”

Fans were glad Gillian warned her fans about these fake tickets, and exclaimed that the scammers have gotten really smart nowadays. Some of these scammers posed as representatives from various Hong Kong entertainment companies and revealed detailed information regarding the wedding, making it hard for fans to determine the legitimacy of the ticket sales.

Since Gillian has a wide circle of friends in the industry, the scammers listed various celebrities who will be attending the wedding, such as Jackie Chan (成龍), Angelababy (楊穎), Sammo Hung (洪金寶), Rainie Yang (楊丞琳), Huang Xiaoming (黃曉明), Chow Yun Fat (周潤發), Leo Ku (古巨基), Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍), and Raymond Lam (林峯). The scammers stated that an invitation to the banquet can be purchased for $28,000 HKD.

With the banquet only three days away, Gillian has been working extra hard to lose weight to look more beautiful in her wedding dress. Good friend Nicholas Tse (謝霆鋒) decided to gift her with boxes of wedding cookies from his own company. Gillian was extremely grateful of the heart-warming gesture. She said, “I really want to thank Nicholas for giving me his cookies – the boxes were all so beautifully wrapped. I really appreciate the thought.”

    1. @jimmyszeto It does feel like EEG is milking Gillian’s marriage by casting her in a reality TV show leading up to her HK wedding banquet. But Gillian and Michael (and many married celebrity couples) don’t mind revealing their privacy for publicity and higher income. Many Hong Kong stars have profited enormously from reality TV shows.

Now entertainment options are more diversified. Acting/singing are not the only paths to stardom… having a stylish appearance and likeable personality have helped celebrities like Angelababy become a big star from reality TV. She’s a favorite among advertisers because of social influence with millions of followers.

EEG has been successful in making Twins stay relevant since their debut in 2001, and that’s been remarkable. Charlene Choi has been focusing on film, while Gillian has appeal in Mainland China. Every few years, they regroup to hold their Twins world tour concerts and make more money. EEG has been successful in re-positioning them to meet market demands.

Fans seem to soak up Gillian and Michael’s marriage since they’re a very good looking couple, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a baby, the family will star in a reality TV show about parenting.

  1. Sounds more like she is worried that no one really cares about her marriage so she is spreading more news around concerning “fake news” so that she gets more publicity around this banquet that not many care about………The only thing she’s ever done that has gotten the amount of publicity she wanted was her old pics with Edison……..hahahaaha…………
