Karl Ting Gains Notice Through “The Man That Kills Troubles”

The Man That Kills Troubles <解決師> is the Ratings King for this week, beating Finding Her Voice <牛下女高音> and long-time ratings winner Come Home Love: Lo and Behold <愛回家之開心速遞>.

The audience love watching the exciting action scenes and Vincent Wong’s (王浩信) manly charisma when he protects Natalie Tong (唐詩詠) from danger. Many also love the school scenes and the camaraderie between the rugby team as it brings much needed comedic relief after scenes of altercation between the police and the triads.

Actor Karl Ting (丁子朗) plays the de facto leader of the students and the captain of the rugby team. Only 22 years old, Karl is the perfect candidate to portray a student. When he was 14, he immigrated with his family to Canada and participated in a local competition in hopes of joining the entertainment industry. Afterwards, it was arranged for him to participate in Mr. Hong Kong but he did not place or win any awards. He did not give up and paid out of pocket to travel back to Hong Kong and participate in the 2016 Mr. Hong Kong competition. This time he placed first runner-up and won Most Photogenic and Most Popular Contestant awards.

The Man Who Kills Troubles is his second important role after At the Threshold of an Era <再創世紀>. Netizens praised Karl’s convincing acting in a scene where his character learns the real reason for his sister’s death.

Karl has also participated in many other variety shows, most notably Sammy on the Go <森美旅行團> with Sammy Leung (森美). Netizens remember vividly when Karl and Sammy were relaxing in the onsen together and they both showed off their hard earned muscles. As well, Karl also participated in Liza’s Online <娛樂大家> and kept losing as the other participants banded together to set traps for him; netizens loved how cute Karl was when he kept losing!
