Kayi Cheung Marries Longtime Boyfriend In Vancouver

Former Miss Hong Kong 2007 Kayi Cheung (張嘉兒) has finally tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend Nathan Lau in Vancouver, Canada. The 31-year-old TVB actress and her 34-year-old accountant boyfriend held their wedding banquet on September 12. Former ATV actress and Miss Hong Kong 2003 second runner-up Priscilla Chi (戚黛黛) was one of Kayi’s bridesmaids.

Dating for more than five years, Kayi announced her engagement to Nate back in July. Nate is a descendant of Sir Kai Ho (何啟), the teacher of Sun Yat Sen (孫中山).

In many traditional Cantonese weddings, the groom is required to go through a myriad of trials for the opportunity to go through the door and take the bride’s hand. Priscilla shared that the bridesmaids “abused” Nate as much as they could, such as forcing him to eat a plate full of insects, before earning the chance to see Kayi.

“But that was all Kayi’s idea!” Priscilla said.

After the games, Kayi and Nate had their traditional Chinese wedding tea ceremony. Wearing a fitting Chinese wedding dress, Kayi cried while serving tea to her parents. The couple then held their official wedding at a church later that afternoon, and when Kayi’s father brought her down the aisle, Nate broke into tears. In the evening, the newlyweds hosted a western-style wedding banquet at Terminal City Club, inviting over 300 guests.

It was a musical banquet, as Kayi and Nate did a variety of dance performances for their guests. The couple first slow danced to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” before breaking into a fast-paced hip hop dance.

“I had a great night. I am so happy. The wedding was perfect!” said Kayi.

    1. @kiki

She looks better than 99% of HK girls, if she’s considered a pork chop, then I don’t know what the rest of honger girls should be called.

I don’t think she looks that bad either but if they have to compare w/the older generations of Ms HKs then of course, these days most of them are very ordinary looking.
But I feel lots of Hong Kongers are very judgemental and somewhat conceited in my opinion. lol..Most of them don’t owe a mirror and does not look at their own faces first. Other than those distant cousins, I heard the way alot of HK people talks while I was there, they think they are so above others esp when they are judging people from the mainland as well.

  2. Personally I don’t think Kayi Cheung was a pork chop Miss Hong Kong. If she was one, 80+% of the Miss Hong Kong after Kayi Cheung were all pork chop Miss Hong Kong’s. In fact, they looked worse than pork chops.

The newly chosen Miss Hong Kong isn’t pretty at all besides having 10A’s in high school exam. and being a graduate of Cambridge Law School. She looks like a next-door girl to me.

Congratulations, Kayi Cheung and Nathan Lau.
