Miriam Yeung Shares Photo of Baby Boy, Torres

Miriam Yeung (楊千嬅) gave birth on June 5th to a baby boy and rested in the hospital for several days.  After returning home, the 38-year-old coped well with the demands of motherhood and even got to sleep through the night!  Yesterday, Miriam’s husband, Real Ting (丁子高), shared a photo of their son, Torres. The couple named their son after Spanish soccer player, Fernando Torres.

Giving birth via Caesarean section, Miriam was unable to truly rest at the hospital with the disruption. Torres possessed good appetite and Miriam had to feed him every two hours.  Miriam apologized for not accepting press interviews on the day that she left the hospital; she was tired and had wished to go home quickly.

Miriam Yeung: “I Finally Got Real Rest!”

Miriam admitted that hiring a maid to cope with her postpartum recovery helped immensely. The maid was a wonderful cook and prepared three meals for Miriam each day. Since it was important for Miriam to eat plain but nutritious meals to aid her recovery, her husband, Real Ting, has taken on the task to taste all of her meals beforehand! Miriam laughed, “He ate one-third of my bowl of congee earlier!”

Since Miriam had worked as a nurse prior to becoming an artist, she felt that her earlier training had helped her prepare for the challenges of caring for a young baby. Miriam said, “I want to take care of the baby responsibilities as much as possible by myself. Since I was a nurse before, I have a basic background. There is no need for everyone to be too anxious for me!”

Returning home, Miriam started pumping breast milk and storing it for later feedings. Miriam’s maid has taken on the baby bottle feedings at night, allowing Miriam to get much needed sleep. Asked if she was eager to give Torres a sibling, Miriam laughed, “Let me get accustomed to being a mother first. I will think about it later!”

    1. the article states the baby is named after the spanish football star Fernando Torres

      1. Thanks. I didn’t notice that line! Sigh.. it is better than Pele Maradona Torres. That would be too long.

      2. I am imagining how they will call TORRES!! TORRES!!

Glad to know celebrities also have celebrity crush and all!

      3. Torres is a Spanish surname and it is great that they named their baby that since it is unique when used as a first name. Congrats to Miriam and Real!!

      4. People in Hong Kong are very funny. They cannot tell which is a surname and which is a first name. They always name their baby with someone’s last name. It is okay if they always live in Hong Kong and don’t go overseas. People here will get confused when you give them a name which is a last name and not a first name.

      5. Sandcherry,
We seem to be in an age where anything goes in naming kids. People choosing names from another culture for kids. And surnames seem to be the trend in new first names, such as Tyson, Harrison, etc.

I like ultra masculine names such as Hunter, but it may come across as too predatory. Like MC Jin’s name choice for his son, Chance, very much.

      6. Interestingly in the old days ashley and tiffany are male names, now they’re female! Yes Torres is the surname. I suppose Fernando would be a bit too traumatic for an asian kid. Imagine the bullying and the all the bull fights taunts. “Hey Fernando! Where’s your bull?!”. Torres is ok actually.

      7. I know Evelyn, Kelly, Ashley and Vivian are/were boy’s name. I didn’t know that Tiffany is/was also a boy’s name. Learn something new.

I thought they name their son Torres because he’s a Taurus. Haha.

      8. @ sandcherry
That’s also an American thing to have surnames as first names!

        @ Funn Lim
Yes, being named after an Abba song is way too much!

        @ Kidd
        Add Shirley to the list.

      9. Actually, I prefer for Chinese to have Chinese name only.

      10. Hacken Lee named his first son Ryan after football player Ryan Giggs from Manchester United. Roger Kwok named his son after Brad Pitt (his daughter is named Blair). It’s actually interesting to see what celebrities have named their kids:

Kenix Kwok & Frankie Lam – Tania
Eason Chan & Hilary Tsui – Constance
Raymond Wong & Roseanne – Kayden

And a bunch more… quite Western names actually.

      11. Bridget,
I like the name Ryan too! Except the Cantonese pronunciation sounds like “wai yan” or “bad person,” hehe I can imagine my parents butchering the name.

Tania, Constance, and Kayden are all very nice names. Jayden is also really popular right now.

      12. Ryan is ok, even if teh real Ryan Giggs is errr… not good. The rest are normal. Just that Torres is actually the surname which makes it unique.

All must be fans of EPL.

      13. More..

Julian Cheung & Anita Yuen – Morton
Flora Chan & Mike Chung – Mira

      14. Morton is ok. Mira is Mai-ra or Mee-ra?

        Why no Damien?

      15. I always thought Morton was a horrible name. It sounds like an old person’s name!

I’m also not a fan of the name Torres but of the parents are happy with it, that’s all that matters. Too bad they didn’t give it a Chinese name.

  1. baby is so cute. congrats to the happy couple. her husband is so handsome, she is a lucky girl

  2. Congartulations to Miriam & hubby! Your son Torres is so cute. Btw, what is his Chinese name?

  3. The baby is cute. Congratulations to both of them.

“Miriam” is a decent first name, while “Real” is a very funny name that I have never heard of. Perhaps I will find someone called “Unreal” or “False” in future!

  4. Wow, Miriam is 38? She looks very youthful. I would have thought early 30s in that photo. Her husband’s good looking. Anyone know what he does?

Anyways, congrats to the happy couple.

    1. NP,
Real Ting works in Public Relations. I believe he has his own PR firm. Miriam often makes jokes about how much of a planner he is, while she seems very laid back.

    2. Real’s family is also quite rich. Think his dad owns companies….

  5. Cute baby ! got mom’s face and dad’s eyes. Happy family !

  6. What a handsome family. Congratulations to the happy couple, Miriam and Real.

  7. awwwww~~ wat a lovely boy! Real Ting looks handsome in tt pic above. and hte baby is so charming. congrats to mama Miriam and papa Real! hello Torres!

  8. Why Torres ?? He was a once upon a time clinical soccer star. But nowadays, he spend most of the time sulking on the bench…. Pity should have name his gorgeous son.. “GORGEOUS”

  9. Whatever…ever since she’s carrying this boy she’s been a super show-off…he’s so much younger than she is..will keep my eyes open to see when they split…

  10. it never ceases to amaze me that HongKong celebs love giving their kids english name and not only that, the names arent’ common English names but over the top bizarre name. Mango? Cactus? Twinkie? Calorie? Brick? I’m sure some of these names aren’t from celebs but it’s just funny. Please name some of those funny names from Celebs you heard =]

    1. Hollywood couples do that too… How do you like Apple, Coco, Pilot Inspector?

      1. Apple is a cute name. Coco isn’t bad. Pilot Inspector is definitely something

    2. The whole Geldolf family….

      Pixie Geldof
      Fifi Trixibelle Geldof
Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily Hutchence Geldof
      Peaches Honeyblossom Geldolf

      Demi Moore’s kids

Rumer Willis, Scout Willis, Tallulah Willis

  11. I dont care what they gonna name their son.. I think they’re a great and proud couple to have shared their bb’s photo to the world…

I still don’t get Andy, why have to keep his bb’s pics so secretive???

    1. the same could be applied to people such as you. Why so nosy? It’s his life.

      1. I missed your post, I won’t called that nosy, Andy is a celebrity and Celebrity have people/fans following them..its pretty common to ask for a photo or anything. So asking a photo of a bb is called nosy or rude? he has the right to not show its up to him and we’ve the right to ask to see..

    2. Would you want paparazzi following your kid’s every moves?

Imagine once it goes to school…isn’t that why most celebs make their kids wear face masks when they’re out in public so they grow up to have a semi normal life without camera flashes in their face every second?

  12. Wouldn’t it be great to look that great in less than a week postpartum? Really does pay to have money….
