“My Fair Princess” Actor Zhou Jie Donates 22,000 Pounds of Rice

With limited supply of resources during the coronavirus epidemic, many celebrities continue to support those in need through monetary contributions and donations of face masks, medical and essential supplies, and even food. My Fair Princess <還珠格格> actor Zhou Jie (周杰), who has established a successful agricultural business, announced he will donate 10,000 kilograms (or 22,000 pounds) of rice to medical staff.

Best known for his role as Fu Erkang and playing Ruby Lin‘s (林心如) love interest in the 1998 version of My Fair Princess, the 49-year-old has faded out of the entertainment industry in recent years to develop his own agricultural business. With his five companies, a vineyard, and a rice farm, Zhou Jie’s net worth is estimated to be over 100 million RMB.

During a variety show, Zhou Jie introduced his farm and shared how he grows the highest quality rice without pesticides. In Northeast China, his farm encompasses thousands of acres and the main crops are soybeans, sorghum, corn, and rice.

With his rice regularly sold at premium prices, Zhou Jie’s donation this time to medical staff is estimated to be equivalent to 400,000 RMB. Many netizens applauded him for his generosity and even complimented him for choosing a donation that is more practical than money. Others also commented that they understand how difficult a agricultural work is, so they are grateful for this donation.

On Weibo, Zhou Jie posted a photo of Dr. Li Wenliang (李文亮) who had warned the Wuhan police about the coronavirus. Unfortunately, the doctor recently died from the virus. Zhou sent words of encouragement to the medical staff who are currently fighting the virus and hopes that everything will return back to normal soon.
