Together 11 Years: Ada Choi’s Pragmatic Approach to Marriage

Ada Choi (蔡少芬) only has one piece of advice when it comes to maintaining a long, healthy marriage.

Married to actor Max Zhang (張晉) for 11 years, the couple are parents to two daughters, Zoe and Chloe. Aside from learning how to trust and communicate with each other, a key point in maintaining a long marriage is to be realistic.

On the mainland Chinese show My Dearest Ladies <我最愛的女人們>, Ada shared with her fellow cast mates that she’s gotten much more fearful after becoming a mother, even to the point of being afraid to fly. Every time she boards a plane, she would remind Max that he must take care of their two daughters if she doesn’t make it back home, and that she would be okay with Max finding another partner

Costar Christy Chung (鍾麗緹) was shocked to hear Ada’s answer, but she confidently said, “It’s fine. He’ll definitely find someone else.” When Christy asked why would Max move on when he clearly cares for Ada, she immediately said, “It’s fine. We should be more realistic.”

Ada understands that romance should never be the only factor when it comes to marriage. A union between a couple should also be about trust, collaboration, and responsibility. When a widowed man or woman remarries, it isn’t always about love—sometimes, it’s just about finding someone to spend time with for the rest of their lives. Just like how a businessman maintains his business and an actor maintains his skills, marriage will only work if you put in the time and effort.

  1. i agree with the ladies…just because someone dies, doesn’t mean life doesn’t go on. you have to live life without those idealistic blinders.

also, ada’s teeth are really bothering me these days. i think she needs braces.

      1. @m0m0
I think it’s just a naturally aging face which still doesn’t look as bad. The hubby on the other hand looks a bit too feminine for me. lol…

      2. @m0m0 it’s her teeth. as she’s gotten older, her skin has gotten sallower and less plushy and her lips have lost some of their cushion, so that just emphasize her teeth even more. if her face had more volume, it would hide that imperfection better, like when she was younger.

  2. Isnt she being sort of hinting that Max would be marrying after her death only to have company not for love….sounds like she is still possessive.
