ViuTV held its annual sales presentation earlier and many stars were in attendance to introduce new and exciting dramas. As ViuTV had seen success in airing unique-themed dramas in 2019, ViuTV will further push for programs with bold and innovating themes in the upcoming year.
In 2020, viewers can look forward to major productions with varying themes including romantic fantasy, youth/coming-of-age, thrilling action, black humor, romantic mystery, and dark fantasy. This year ViuTV will also air high-quality travel programs and take viewers around the world.
ViuTV also announced the sequel, Good Night Show – King Maker 2 <全民造星2>. In the new season, the popular boy group, Mirror, will join the program and the new season promises new judges and mentors to discover new talents.
Mark Cheng’s Return
Last but not least, ViuTV surprised everyone by announcing Mark Cheng’s (鄭浩南) return to Hong Kong television after 16 years. Wearing a suit and black glasses as he greeted the audience, Mark revealed that he will be playing a kind entrepreneur in his new drama, Realtor <地產仔>.
Speaking of his decision to return to Hong Kong to film, Mark said, “Right now, a lot of people think Hong Kong is a mess, but people should think positively. People tell me, ‘Of course you are positive. You emigrated and you have a house abroad. Your words are meaningless.’ However, I was born here and I have memories here. Many people know me because of this place. When the director asked me to come back to film, it was the TV station’s energy that motivated me to come back.”
