Three weeks ago, it was announced with great fanfare that Christine Kuo (苟芸慧) will act as the sexy female lead of director Wilson Chin’s (錢國偉) new movie, Lan Kwai Fong 2 <喜愛夜蒲2>. Kelvin Kwan (關楚耀) stated that he was nervous about filming bed scenes with Christine. However, rumors were rampant that Christine was extremely flirtatious with Wilson Chin, inciting his girlfriend’s jealousy. As a result, Christine was reduced to a supporting role in Lan Kwai Fong 2. Upset with the change, Christine decided to pull out of the project!

Wilson’s girlfriend, Calinda Chan (陳宛蔚) was reported to be upset with how Christine appeared to be overly flirtatious in his company. Calinda allegedly had a heated argument with Wilson at a restaurant dinner over the issue. To pacify his girlfriend, Wilson decided to reduce Christine’s role in Lan Kwai Fong 2.

When Christine agreed to film Lan Kwai Fong 2, it was with the understanding that she will be cast as the female lead. However, Shiga Lin (連詩雅) has now stepped in to take the lead role instead. Christine’s character has undergone significant scripting changes, with reduced screen time.

Wilson denied the rumors that his jealous girlfriend was the reason that Christine’s role was reduced. He said, “I do not have a girlfriend. I will not let personal matters affect work. The reason in changing the female lead is because Christine Kuo is filming War and Beauty 2 <金枝慾孽2>. TVB could not accommodate the filming schedule, so we made changes to the script.” Wilson pointed out that Shiga Lin already had a role in Lan Kwai Fong 2, but her screen time will be increased now.

Another speculation was the Christine Kuo was upset about her bed scenes with Kelvin Kwan. Wilson denied this, “When we first sought out Christine, she and TVB knew what kind of movie this will be,” referencing that all parties realized that Lan Kwai Fong 2 was heavily dotted with intimate scenes.

Christine stated, “When I accepted the movie role, the company said I was the female lead. We spoke about it at the start of the project. However, I have not even filmed one day yet and my character has been re-written in such a manner! Next time, I will be smarter and speak out at the moment!”

Jayne: I have a feeling the sexual scenes may have become too demanding? Wilson’s reasons that Christine is busy filming War and Beauty 2 and TVB unwilling to give her time to film directly conflicts with her reaction. Her response indicates that she was somehow misled in what was initially offered and what her role has warped into.
