Is TVB Planning for an “Airport Strikers” Sequel?

SPOILERS AHEAD

TVB kickstarted the new month with the final episode of Airport Strikers <機場特警>, which aired on May 1st. Although the final episode wrapped up the endings for each character arc, it also left room for a potential sequel.

The final episode starts off with the fall of the drama’s final villain, Sung Tin-kei (Jack Hui 許家傑). Although Tin-kei was armed and could’ve killed him, Easy (Mat Yeung 楊明) still wanted a peaceful surrender. Hill (Owen Cheung 張振朗) takes down Tin-kei before he could fire his gun at Easy.

San Jai (Sisley Choi 蔡思貝) confesses her feelings for Hill, taking him off-guard. Although still at a loss at why Nana (Roxanne Tong 湯洛雯) had broken up with him, he realizes that he had also fallen for San Jai. At Keung (Jackson Lai 黎振燁) and Ah Sun’s (Winki Lai 賴慰玲) wedding, Hill sees Nana again, who tells him the reason why she had to break up with him. San Jai’s parents help her settle the regret she’s had about her brother’s death. Cesar (Hugo Wong 黃子恆) finally agrees to a divorce, and encourages Yan (Snow Suen 孫慧雪) to pursue her dreams. When they meet each other again by chance at the airport, Cesar sees that Yan is still wearing their wedding ring.

In the final minutes of the episode, San Jai is re-introduced to be a member of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Bureau, leading to the possibility of a direct sequel starring the same characters. Maybe TVB is considering to do a TV version of Andy Lau’s (劉德華) Shock Wave <拆彈專家>?

  1. Oh gosh. Please don’t make a sequel.. this series had a lot of potential but it ended up being a disappointment. I was looking forward to the ending where it was going to be filled with a final boss showdown since it was building up to it for the last few episodes..but was given a disappointed like what, less than 10 mins of action and the final boss get shot dead. Instead of giving different cases that could happen at the airport, we were given different relationship issues in the series. No thanks for a sequel!

  2. The last episode was quite anti-climatic.. just shooting dead the boss. Lol.

And San Jai needs to know her boundaries.

  3. Oh please…the series was no where near decent…and they want to do a sequel? Desperate much? But fine…the only thing I ask if they do a sequel is to keep the Police Cadet thing out of it…every time I heard them play the Police Cadet ‘84 theme song during various parts of the series, it pissed me off to no end.

And while TVB is at it, please stop with all the classic songs reboots already (it seems like practically every series nowadays they have a classic song from the 80s/90s in it, which they “reboot” by either having a TVB artist or a Voice singer perform)…I don’t know about anyone else but I personally don’t want to hear their so-called singers butchering classic songs that I grew up listening to. As it is, the only TVB program that I still watched the past few years — Cantopop at 50 — has already been permanently ruined with TVB’s recent trend of inviting artists from their currently airing series to do cringe-worthy renditions of classic Cantopop songs…give our ears a break please!

  4. Nana set clear boundaries and she did it in such a selfless way. San Jai, don’t scoop in right after they broke up dudette. Hill is a grown ass man who doesn’t know he has fallen for San Jai although he’s out buying her erasers when he is with Nana. To be honest, San Jai and Hill deserve each other. However, there’s no guarantee he won’t half-ass it with her either. Hill is the problematic one if you think about it: daddy issues and trying to make every girl happy, which makes every girl unhappy.

  5. This series turned out to be such a disappointment. It started all good and exciting and fizzled out to some lame love stories and family problems???

All that training and nothing to show it.

Gloria and that Jonathan guy story arc is unnecessary. It was just filler! Duke was cute tho.

Sanjay and Hill were getting on my nerves after a while.

Hugo and Eddie were the only saving grace. Love them!

Also, love Roseanne, wish TVB would give her more meaty roles. And don’t pair her with Owen, he looked so scrawny standing next to her!

  6. Dude, there has to be sequel. I loved this series a lot. It’s pretty much was like Tiger Cubs 1 and 2. Flying Tigers 1 and 2. It’s very good. Owen is a good actor, would like to see more of him. Especially playing someone cocky like this character.
