Grace Chan Stays Fit During Second Trimester of Pregnancy

After marrying Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) in 2018 and the subsequent birth of their son Rafael (鄭承悅) the following year, Grace Chan (陳凱琳)  is ready to be a mom again. Estimated to be five months pregnant, Grace has been feeling a lack of energy and often suffers from migraines in her second pregnancy. Tired of feeling this way, Grace decided it is best to be more active throughout her pregnancy.

In her Instagram post, Grace was seen wearing loose-fitting sportswear while working out with a personal trainer. She wrote, “I shared earlier that I had migraines. I have tried various passive treatments like massages, acupuncture, and pain killers. My friends recommended exercising so I decided to try Pilates to stretch and strengthen my muscles. After two lessons, I feel a lot better so I recommend it to all my friends who have muscle strains. I hope to encourage everyone to take proactive measures to help themselves.”

Though many applauded the actress for continuing to lead an active lifestyle during pregnancy, many were also concerned about her exercise choices. In one shot of the video, Grace was performing a plank exercise that squishes her belly, in which many cautioned her to be careful due as she is already in her second trimester of pregnancy.

    1. @jessehsuan Agree, but who aren’t now aday ha.

I’m all for staying active when you’re pregnant. But this looks dangerous… especially if you don’t have a trainer to help and guide you. How does stretching help your headaches though?

  1. planks is indeed quite dangerous to break the muscles between the belly. could end up w/ a bulging belly if doing wrong. quite surprise her trainer is making her do it.

exercise is much more effective than any of the methods she has tried. stretching and exercise are never wrong.

  2. She needs to stay relevant somehow if she plans on making a TVB comeback like her peers (Linda, Eliza, etc.)

  3. It’s actually healthy to workout during pregnancy, but obviously don’t be doing summersaults. Planking as she is doing above is okay, but maybe not during third trimester (this is her second). As a Pilates instructor myself, I see that she has props to prevent contact with her belly. A private trainer makes the process safe.

    1. @jesspepperwang Uhm, basically by 5mo, no instructor would let you do plank??? I have done a lot of exercise during my pregnancy, and all my instructors did not like the idea of me laying on my tummy in anyway. Even at the physio, they would also do everything to avoid me laying on the tummy. So I don’t know how this is responsible or good in any sense. You can do exercise, and there are a lot of way to target the muscle without the need to lay on your tummy! What grace is doing is rather reckless. Idm her before but now I kinda agree with everyone that she’s attention seeker, and kinda a bad one.

  4. You can do planks 5 months in. Heck, you can do planks throughout the entire pregnancy. But they’re usually modified planks and not ones where you lay on the belly like Grace. I will give Grace the benefit of a doubt and say she uploaded this photo to show some pregnancy exercises and not to gather attention on herself. She’s already relevant and doesn’t lack money. She has no need to do this for publicity.

  5. Yeah she’s just trying to be healthy young mom, she’s doing her thing. She most likely won’t come back like Linda, they got their family and that’s what they really want. Same goes for Leanna as well….Just stay home and enjoy the family life.
