TVB Unveils New Trailers at FILMART 2021

The HKTDC Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) is Asia’s leading content marketplace for films, television programs, and digital content for entertainment. TVB is an annual exhibitor and often brings along many first tier artistes to help promote their upcoming shows. Due to the pandemic, FILMART turned to a virtual platform and has cancelled their opening ceremony.

Their website has already uploaded trailers for many upcoming TVB dramas, including AI Rhapsody <智能愛(AI)人>, The Ringmaster <拳王>, Barrack O’Karma 1968 <金宵大廈 II>, The Line Watchers <把關者們>, The Kwoks and What <我家無難事>, Sinister Beings <逆天奇案>, Kids’ Lives Matter <星空下的仁醫>, Big White Duel 2 <白色強人II>, and Shadow of Justice <伙記辦大事>>.

The Kwoks and What will mark the first time Joe Ma (馬德鐘) and his son Ma Xiang ( 馬在驤) are working together. Xiang will play the younger version of his father and does not have much screen time. In regards to his son’s performance, Joe gave his nod of approval, “It’s like that for a first-timer. At least he wasn’t nervous–he was much better than I was. The first time I filmed, I was like an idiot”

The drama also stars Natalie Tong (唐詩詠), Mat Yeung (揚明), Grace Wong (王君馨), and Nina Paw (鮑起靜).

  1. Wow Shadow of Justice might have the lamest trailer among them all. Ironically Big White Duel 2’s trailer looks promising despite the overhype of the first season’s reception.

  2. I am interested in the Kara, Vincent, Philip series. Surprised it wasn’t mentioned in the article.

Also, good to see Ali and Bobby again. Maybe even Ruco, but Chinatown still is trite.

    1. @potatochip they also released a trailer for sinister beings which has Ruco. That looks interesting. By the way, I’ve been watching your Ruco recommendations and I’m convinced he’s a good actor. He has range.

I’m very excited for the Kara/Vincent/Phillip series I hope it doesn’t flop

      1. @tt23 LOL. Ruco is charismatic and good-looking. Eye in the Sky is interesting if you want to see him as a bad guy. The Other Truth was his break out role, if you haven’t seen it, it is good to pass the time. The cast was fun. He has his limitations, but overall is solid and one of TVB’s best, FWIW.

I think Sinister Beings will be better because it is different cast and he is comfortable with Rosina. She’s more watchable than Natalie for me. But the character looks like his typical macho guy in recent years.

I went down a rabbit hole and I am watching a lesser known Chinese actress, Li Qian right now. She’s very talented and cute.

      2. @potatochip hahaha when I made the comment I think I had only seen him in two shows (one of them being unholy alliance which I give him a pass because the story was just terrible) so I wasn’t sure if he was good or not but I didn’t hate him. I watched those two and I like him in both, especially the other truth. I usually don’t like watching dramas with older timelines but I might have to give FWIW a try.

Agree with you about Rosina, I like her and hope she gets a few more shows this year. Natalie I think is just terrible with anyone lol

      3. @tt23 Oh, I meant “FWIW” as in “for what it’s worth”, meaning one of the best in TVB is nice but doesn’t really mean much in the big world.

A Fist within Four Walls was ok. Nancy and Ruco had chemistry but the later part of the series was repetitive. It is a good series, but over-hyped. I actually liked Grace Wong’s character best and Moon was charming.

      4. @potatochip ahhhh that’s a new acronym for me but thanks for letting me know about that drama, I’ll skip it lol. I’m watching Brother’s Keeper now. Not bad so far.

  3. they try too hard to make their dramas look cool when you’ve been watching for too long. tvb dramas are never cool even when they’re good.
