2013 Miss Hong Kong Finals Take Place on September 1

After months of preparing for competition night, the ten finalists for the 2013 Miss Hong Kong pageant will step onto the stage for their final competition on September 1. In order to prepare for the big moment, the contestants performed a final run-through in their swimsuits. In the end, contestant #13 Tammy Ou Yang’s (歐陽巧瑩) name was drawn and had a chance to try on the $3.9 million HKD crown.

Despite being a gossip magnet, Tammy expressed her happiness when she was luckily chosen to wear the crown and denied that she has used up all her luck already. “Up until now, it’s not all luck! I’ve worked really hard and given my best too!” Tammy, who was also the recipient of the Miss Friendship award, exhibited her confidence throughout the last practice run even though she has had a lot of negative publicity over the course of the pageant.

2013 Miss Hong Kong swimsuitsFor tomorrow’s final competition which will start at 9 p.m., the production crew has already turned the studio into a European train station. The finalists will make their first appearance in elegant gowns by Hong Kong designer Vivian Luk and will be entering the stage on the classic European trains.

Last year’s pageant suffered a live voting crash due to a technical glitch. TVB is working hard to ensure the same mishap does not occur again. This year, the winner and the runner-ups will be chosen by the audience members and the judging panel.  As an incentive to participate, voters will get a chance to win a luxurious vacation and house renovation package estimated at $900,000 HKD.

  1. Share your predictions for the winners! My guess for the winner is Grace Chan, 1st runner-up is Sisley Choi and 2nd runner-up is Virginia Lau.

    1. this prediction almost correct except for moon lau at third place!

  2. My guess : winner : Tammy Ou , 1st runner up : Grace Chan/ Sisley Choi , 2nd runner up : Moon Lau/ Virginia Lau .

  3. why tammy ou? is because the judges likes her and she’s pretty too.

    1. she’s backed up by eric tsang so i think tammy will end up in the top 5.
      i hope,the winner:Sisley choi, 2nd:Grace chan,3rd:virginia lau.

    2. tammy au didn’t win anything despite her backing from eric tsang! glad she didn’t win!

    3. I have a feeling Tammy will get signed by TVB although she didn’t place well in the competition, but I don’t think she can be a future fadan. She might be fitting for homewrecker supporting roles.

  4. Am I the only one who is guessing which contestant will be seen in dramas soon?

    1. Yeah I dont know who is going to win but I expect tammy and grace to have a contract with tvb. Lol.

  5. tammy’s tan is nice and even.

but looks significantly darker than the rest of the crowd.

  6. I don’t get why people think Tammy would win. I don’t think SHE’S PRETTY AT ALL. She is the example of a pork chop.

    1. kinda of agree! she has so many scandals, and her face is probably plastic surgery… She isn’t ugly, but did not deserve the Miss Friendship award. I did not feel she was nice or friendly; because in her interview she just mocked other contestant’s accent and the way they speak.
I’m not happy that I would probably have to see her acting in dramas next year.

    2. agree! tammy looks like average hk girl on the street even when suspected of multiple plastic surgeries and her scandals make her ugly! she seems like a sly girl!

  7. My guess :
    winner : virginir Lau
first runner up : Grace Chan
second runner up : Sisley Choi

  8. Sisley and Grace are too thin and flat chested. But at least Grace has the poise and confidence. Tammy and Vicky are more proportionate and have better figure.

  9. Grace too thin, virginia cannot speak proper Cantonese, tammy too many scandals and looked sly. Peggy, karen and moon are my picks

    1. Between Virginia and Moon, I always thought one of them can be top3 but can’t pick one. I’m pleased that the results is what I expected.

    1. she’s still prettier and classier than other contestants! you want the scandalous tammy ou yang to win just because her body is ‘proportionate’? my foot! 😛

  10. Grace is a very pretty girl so definitely no pork chop complains from the netizens

    1. agree! always thought grace is the prettiest among the girls although too thin and she also has won almost all the awards before!

      1. but of course she’s far behind from the beauty of michelle reis and sonija kwok!

    2. Not that far actually. Grace resembles Michelle Reis actually……one of the prettiest Miss HK ever produced for a long long time. Move aside Kayi Cheung, Edelweiss long neck(whats the name!)

      1. no way grace is pretty but michelle is simply beautiful! of course kayi is out of their league! one of the ugliest miss hk ever produced and didn’t edelweiss got stripped of her crown because she fail to perform her miss hk job? what a shame!

      2. If we look back at the collection of MHK winners since the beginning, not all of them are strikingly pretty. Michelle does stand out as one of the most beautiful MHK, she was cute too with more baby fat on her face back then at the time of her win.

      3. When I look at the pictures tonight, Carat actually looks prettier now than when she won her crown. I think it was the dress that makes a difference lol.

      4. not michelle reis is the prettiest miss hong kong ever, but loretta chu from 1977 is the most beautiful miss hong kong.

    3. grace looks like raymonds girlfriend but she is actually more pretty than raymonds girlfriend. conratulation grace, sisley, moon.

  11. When the pageant started, everybody was criticising this year’s quality stating lack of pretty girls but as the event proceeds from semis to finals, i could not pick any stand out contestants as i felt there were many pretty girls

    1. contestants looks better on final night every year because of make up and more make up!

  12. I think this year’s quality is by far the best in the past 5 or so years, Grace chan definitely has a chance to be Miss Chinese international winner as well!

And for all those people saying she is flat chested or too skinny, its a lot easier to change ur body shape than it is to change ur face, so its not a big deal.

  13. Congrats to Grace Chan. She was my first choice too and Sisley was also second choice. I’m quite satisfied with the results although I haven’t watches the show yet.

  14. I think Grace has a very beautiful and sweet face. She’s definitely one of the top miss hong kong in history.

Too bad she’s slightly shorter than I’d like (would be perfect if she’s 5’6″ or 7″).

She’s definitely underweight and I hope HK girls don’t use that as a standard/reference for winning miss HK. I don’t think she got her crown because she’s the lightest of all. It’s her beautiful face, confidence, and intelligence.

      1. Yeah, Grace does bear a passing resemblance to Anita Lee Yuen Wah, whom I always thought had a pretty face. Anita recently gave an interview during her visit to HK after settling down in Vancouver and she still looks very good, although she’s now a mother of 3 children. Grace Chan has more poise and elegance than Anita Lee though. Her brilliant megawatt smile, high cheekbones and narrow long face also reminds me of Michelle Saram. I don’t think she looks much like Michelle Reis.

      2. Anita Lee was pretty too but I don’t think Grace looks like her. Grace looks more like a poised and elegant version of Karena Ng.
