Andy Lau Confirms 2018 Concert!

Andy Lau (劉德華) will be coming back for his concert in 2018!

After sustaining a serious injury on his back and pelvis in January, the 55-year-old was advised to cancel all activities to recover. As a result, the actor-singer also called off his planned year-end concert tour in Hong Kong and China.

Thanks to the great support from family and friends, Andy was able to recover faster than expected. After only about two months of rest, Andy was able to walk again, no longer confined to his bed. Though it is possible that Andy could recover in time for his year-end 2017 concert, his doctor strongly recommended him to take the full year off.

Earlier this week, a rumor started spreading online that Andy and his team have submitted paperwork to hold a concert tour in Mainland China. This news was later confirmed by Andy’s agency, announcing in a statement that he will be back in Mainland China next year for his concert.

However, he has not specified whether or not his tour will stop by Hong Kong.

Andy has urged his fans to be patient, reassuring them that they will be back soon.

Wow. If that is the latest picture, he looks to have aged by at least 10 years.

Yeh. Things will never be the same. The thin and fit Andy Lau is gone. He is finished as a movie star. Should go back to full time singing.

I don’t understand why he’s pushing himself so hard. Surely he’s not hurting for money. He probably can live out the rest of his life luxuriously with what he had already made PLUS support his daughter’s finance for the rest of her life too. At his age, he should take better care of himself, slow down and smell the roses. He has a family; so start thinking of them instead of the fans. Also, he still looks good for his age IMO.

He lost a lot of money after he got injured and he still needs to raise his daughter up. Bringing up a child is not easy. Plus he needs to pay for himself and his wife right now and until they’re over 90’s or until death. He is only in his 50’s so there are so many years and lives he needs to take care of. I understand him.

Yes, I think he looks good for his age. This picture is not a good picture of him.

@rainbow28 I don’t doubt he lost a lot of opportunity to make money since his injuries. But he has been racking in lots over the decades. He’s in films, concerts, music, ads, endorsements. He IS HK super star essentially. Yet he still can’t afford to live off of for 3? Or is HK that darn expense??? Even if not outright retired, but take less jobs, i.e. don’t do the concert until he’s fully recover. At the very least, he can afford to take a year off. He seems like more of a frugal guy so I doubt he doesn’t have saving stacked away for times like these…

Maybe he’s just a workaholics so financial stabilityis a mute point lol.

@jjwong It’s definitely not about the money, as he has plenty of that. I’m not surprised that Andy would push himself so hard, as he has always been a work horse. To be honest, I think he is addicted to work like some people are addicted to drugs — each day that goes by where he isn’t working, it’s probably like torture to him.

There is actually one thing that wasn’t mentioned in this article, which I’m surprised at the omission, since it’s significant (not sure if it has anything to do with the source of this article being a Mainland media source?). The reason why Andy and his company announced the plans for a 2018 concert was because some unscrupulous company in Mainland China “claimed” that they had signed an exclusive contract with Andy’s company for a 2018 concert and had already started soliciting money from fans for advance tickets. To prevent fans from falling victim to this fraudulent company and possibly being cheated out of their money, Andy’s company decided to announce that there were indeed plans for a concert and who the Mainland organizers would be so fans can go to them for further details. If you look at the original announcement, the details are very sparse, as the whole point was basically to refute that fraudulent company’s claims and make sure fans have correct information.

Of course, this doesn’t change the fact that Andy is a workaholic, but it does give some insight as to why 2018 concert plans are being talked about all of a sudden.

@llwy12 Yea, the feeling I too get is that Andy is super workaholic. He needs to stop. He has kid now. He needs to enjoy and experience being a Dad.

Well, you know that he doesn’t spend money like a regular middle-class person. And his daughter is young.

What is HK super star to you? Andy is in his 50’s. Are Vincent Wong, Raymond Lam and Chow Yun Fat super stars to you?

@rainbow28 Honestly, there’s no point to further discuss if you need “super star” defined. It implies you don’t think Andy Lau is a super star, which is quite blind. AL is not my favorite out of the Four Heavenly Kings, but he definitely more successful and lucrative one. Also you had to put Vincent and Raymond in the same discussion with AL and CYF as super star comparison, then we really should end it here.

Bottom line: you think Andy is hurting for money. I don’t think he is and he’s soley working because everyone else had mentioned. Let’s leave it at that. Draggy is in noone’s interests. Peace, ya

@rainbow28 AL is def. not hurting for money. He works because he is known to be a hard worker/workaholic. AL and CYF are super stars. Vincent and Raymond are def. NOT on that list.

It’s not the money because he has enough money to live a few lifetimes. It’s the fame and responsibility to his enournous group of fans he has had in past few decades. There’s no chance Andy will be able to give this up and live a secluded life instead.

He’s not exactly Tony Leung so without bits of action scenes in his movies, he’s more or less done as an actor. Time to go back to being a singer.

He looks like he’s grandpa status now. Very odd to see a man who used to look like he’s frozen in age to looking like he does now.
